It also warns against over-torqueing of the filter. While these procedures may work for some filters, ap- plying any lubricant to the oil filter prior to installation is not the recommended practice for Tempest oil filters. Tempest’s Spin EZ oil filter was designed specifically to address the chronic problem of high-torque release of spin-on filters. If using a Tempest Spin EZ filter,you do not need to and should not use lubricant.
