JFK Resources 07.Pdf Welcome Welcome to the first annual JFK Lancer "November In Dallas" Conference presenting Evidence of Conspiracy on the assassi- nation of president John F. Kennedy and the wounding of Governor John Connally. For thirty three years after that horrible day citizens of the world have boldly come forward challenging the official story of how and why the assassination took place. In the words of JFK, "we do this not because it is easy, but because it is hard." It would be easy to be anywhere else but Dallas this week. But we have chosen to do what is hard. We have chosen to come to Dallas to show our committment to the truth. Our sincere appreciation to each you for your support, attendence and participation at the conference. Keep truth alive. Debra Conway Thomas Jones George Michael Evica eatured rs Keynote Speaker: We are pleased to have David Lifton as our Keynote speaker for the first "November In Dallas" Conference. David, with his impressive contributions to the case, will make a presentation you won't want to miss. DAVID LIFTON, is a graduate of Cornell University's School of Engineering Physics (1962). He is the author of "Best Evidence: Disguise and Deception in the Assassination of President Kennedy", originally published in hard- cover by Macmillan in 1981 at which time it was a Book of the Month Club Selection, and appeared on the New York Times best seller list for three months. It has had a most unusual publishing history, having been in print for 14 years, via a series of three publishers: Dell, in paperback (1982-88); Carroll and Graf, in trade paperback (1988- 93); and currently New American Library. David Lifton is also the producer and writer of the "Best Evidence: The Research Video", which was released in 1989, is distributed by Rhino (via MCA) and has sold nearly 50,000 copies. Lifton has lectured widely on the subject of the medical evidence and its relationship to the issue of conspiracy in the Kennedy assassination. He recently testified before the Assassination Records and Review Board, where he do- nated a special 35mm copy of the Zapruder film to the National Archives, as well as many of the original interviews that were the basis for "Best Evidence" He is currently working on a biography of Lee Oswald Closing Speaker: Mary Ferrell's closing statement in 1994 at the 30th anniversary of the assassination is legendary. Be ready to be inspired. APIARY FERRELL, a former legal secretary, was at the opposite end of Elm Street at the time of the assassination in Dallas and began indexing the newspapers that day. Beginning with 3" x 5" slips of paper, she listed each person, what they saw, and where they were standing. Later, adding any other information she found. Soon she had thou- sands of "pieces of paper" indexing magazine articles, the few books that had been written, and all newspaper articles. In late 1966, Jim Garrison found out about Mary and referred her to another archivist whom she was able to share information with for the next seventeen years. This became Mary's database and she has never stopped adding to it. While she states that her work is never more important than the work of those who write books or articles, many would disagree. Without the contribution of Mary's information, many of the books read would be terribly incomplete. Mary's impact on this case is immeasurable. The jet effect seeks to explain the movement of the President's head toward the shooter in the Book Depository. We will discuss Alvarez's original calculations and show video of his experiments using a higher powered rifle and soft nosed ammunition. We will show video of experiments done by Dr. Doug DeSalles using the correct rifle and ammunition. We will present preliminary results of our own experiments using a variety of bullets (soft nosed and military jacketed) and rifles (30.06 and soft nosed). We have taken video of shots taken at various kinds of melons. The emerging pattern seems to be that frangible (hunting) bullets can produce the jet effect, but military (jacketed) bullets which Oswald supposedly used do not. Future experiments and issues to be addressed will be outlined. The talk will show some experiments that show a jet affect and others that do not. It includes video of the following: • the original Alvarez experiments o Doug DeSalles experiments with the correct bullets and rifle. • Preliminary results from our own experiments using a variety of bullets, rifles and melons. The emerging patterns is that frangible (hunting) bullets can produce the jet effect in melons, but jacketed (military) bullets (the type Oswald is alleged to have used) can not. Future experiments and the issues the will address will be outlined. DONALD B. THOMAS, received his Ph.D. In Entomology from the University of Missouri. He has been employed as a research scientist for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture since 1983. He is the author or coauthor of 75 journal articles and one book dealing with the basic biology of insects. Dr. Thomas is also an adjunct faculty member of the Texas A&M University and the Universidad Nacional Autonoma Mexicana in Mexico City and is a research associate of the Carnegie Museum and the Nebraska State Museum. Acoustic Evidence of Gunfire, Espisodic Blurs and Synchronization With the Zapuder Film The Zapruder film shows four episodes wherein the occupants of the President's limousine reacts to an external stimulus. These episodes occur at Z- frames 162-67, 194-238, 313-321. Results from an analysis of blur in the Z-film is concordant with these episodes since there are blurs attendant to each of these episodes. However, previous blur analysis misrepresented important aspects of the timing of the blurs. By factoring in bullet flight time and the speed of sound it can be shown that the blurring is consistent with the impact of a bullet at Z-frame 224 originating from the sixth floor of the TSBD. However, the blur attending the impact at Z-frame 312-323 could only have originated with a rifle shot less than 100 feet from Zapruder. The Dallas Police tape contains the sounds of gunfire. Synchronization of the two police channels in use at the time of the assassination is possible because of radio cross talk. Contrary to the report of the NRC Ballistic Acoustics panel, this synchronization demonstrates that the impulse patterns identified as gunshots were recorded at the precise instant that JFK was killed by gunfire.

  • A Legal-Scientific Analysis of the Warren Commission's Single Bullet
The Magic Bullet: A Legal-Scientific analysis of the Warren Commission’s Single Bullet Theory Andrew M. Mason1 Since its publication in 1964, the Report of the President’s Commission on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy 2 has been mired in controversy. In reaching its conclusion that President Kennedy was the victim of a lone assassin, the Warren Commission adopted the “single bullet theory” to explain the sequence of three shots directed at the President’s limousine. Three of the seven Commission members apparently disagreed with the theory on the grounds that the evidence did not support it. The lack of clear evidence for the theory and its inconsistency with key eyewitness testimony has provided fertile ground for conspiracy theorists who allege that the explanation was concocted to support the Commission’s conclusion that all shots were fired from Oswald’s rifle.3 According to the single bullet theory, a one-inch long, copper jacketed, lead core 6.5 millimeter rifle bullet fired from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository passed through President Kennedy’s neck, Governor Connally’s chest and wrist and embedded itself in the Governor’s thigh. In doing so, the bullet traversed 19 layers of clothing, 7 layers of skin, approximately 15 inches of tissue, struck a tie knot, removed 4 inches of rib and shattered a radius bone. Despite leaving several small particles of lead behind in the Governor’s wounds, the missile emerged from its tortuous journey remarkably unscathed. The bullet that is supposed to have done all this damage was found on Governor Connally’s stretcher in the corridor at the Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

DESCRIPTORS Higher Education; Historiography; Popular Culture; *Presidents of the United States; *Rhetorical Criticism; *Rhetorical Theory; *United States History IDENTIFIERS 1960s; *Assassinations; Classical Rhetoric; Garrison (Jim); *Kennedy (John F); Rhetorical Stance; Social Needs ABSTRACT The rhetoric surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy offers a unique testing ground for theories about the construction of knowledge in society. One dilemma, however, is the lack of academic theorizing about the assassination. The Kennedy assassination has been left almost exclusively in the hands of "nonhistorians," i.e., politicians, filmmakers, and novelists. Their struggle to reach consensus is an opportunity to consider recent issues in rhetorical theory, issues of knowledge and belief, argument and narrative, history and myth. In "Rereading the Sophists: Classical Rhetoric Refigured," Susan C. Jarratt uses the sophists and their focus on "nomos" to propose "an alternative analytic to the mythos/logos antithesis" characteristic of more Aristotelian forms of rhetorical analysis. Two basic features of sophistic historiography interest Jarratt: (1) the use of narrative structures along with or opposed to argumentative structures; and (2) the rhetorical focus on history to creative broad cultural meaning in the present rather than irrefutable fact, about the past. Jarratt's book lends itself to a 2-part reading of Jim Garrison's "On the Trail of the Assassins"--a rational or Aristotelian reading and a nomos-driven or myth-making reading.

The natural inclination… would be to step on the gas and accelerate as quickly as possible. However, if the driver were under the impression that the shots were from the front, one could understand his hesitation in not wanting to drive closer to the sniper or snipers.”—Mark Lane “The most productive mindset you can have is simply this: always, always, always have a belief system that doesn’t resist change. • The JFK Assassination and the Politics and Culture of Conspiracy Theory
A Paranoid Style? : The JFK Assassination and the Politics and Culture of Conspiracy Theory Joseph Broadbent Degree of Masters of Arts by Research University of East Anglia School of American Studies January 2014 This copy of the thesis has been supplied on condition that anyone who consults it is understood to recognise that its copyright rests with the author and that use of any information derived there from must be in accordance with current UK Copyright Law. In addition, any quotation or extract must include full attribution. 2 Abstract This thesis analyses the phenomenon of conspiracy theory, using the assassination of President John F. Kennedy as a case study. Doubt is the root cause of conspiracy theory, stemming from both the innate biases all humans exhibit, and a traumatic experience – in this case the assassination of JFK. This thesis argues that conspiracy theories are created and take hold because of a predisposition toward conspiracy theory, a misinterpretation of a central piece of evidence, such as the Zapruder film, and agency panic, where dispossession causes one to feel as if their agency is under threat. Conspiracy theory can provide believers with many emotions which appear to the individual to not be available elsewhere, namely closure, comfort, control, and a sense of leisure. Using the assassination of JFK, this thesis examines the role of conspiracy theory in modern American society. It weighs up the benefits of conspiracy theory, such as it is an example of free speech and it can aid transparency, with the negatives: that it can possibly cause harm to its adherents and their dependants because of a belief in ends justifying the means.

The goal of Congress in passing S. 3006 was to ensure broadest possible disclosure of the records relating to the assassination. The fact that a document exists only in private hands should not deter the Board in any way from seeking to compel its transmission to the National Archives.—Judge Tunheim at the Review Board nomination hearings.
