In the early morning of June 11, 2016 literally days before the much-anticipated draft, Essence received the tragic news from Adrian’s father. Her 20-year-old, ambitious, fun-loving and tenacious son, was shot and killed near the University of North Carolina, Charlotte campus. This tragedy had a shocking and paralyzing effect on the Bembry family. Knowing where to find support and assistance while planning a funeral service, dealing with unimaginable grief and the reality of life without a son, brother and best friend, were overwhelming for Essence and DeAndre’. This family tragedy served as the catalyst for DeAndre’ to develop a support system that could be an anchor and a resource hub for other families who may have to take a similar journey through grief.

Wind Orchestra
caltech-occidental wind orchestra The Caltech - Occidental Wind Orchestra is comprised of select performers of wind and percussion instruments drawn from the undergraduate and graduate student population at Caltech and Occidental College, plus faculty, alumni, staff and community members from Caltech, and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL). Currently numbering at approximately 80 musicians, this group rehearses once per week and performs three programs of repertoire per academic year. The repertoire is selected from the finest traditional and contemporary music from around the world. The ensemble (formerly known as the Concert Band) earned great acclaim under the leadership of William Bing, who directed the group for over 40 years. Drawing upon the tremendous talent base of Los Angeles, the group has featured such guest artists as Allen Vizzuti, David Shifrin, Eddie Daniels, Jim Self, Wayne Bergeron and Frank Ticheli. The group has taken on notable recording projects, and tours to such locations as Carnegie Hall and China. Appointed in 2016 as conductor of the ensemble and Director of Performing and Visual Arts, Glenn Price is building on the heritage, tradition and high standards established by Bill Bing. DR. GLENN D. In my last post I said there was money around to pay for things that the Government never puts its hands on, namely the value of the land we work on. I showed that this is an old idea whose time has actually begun to arrive in some parts of the world. Scroll back to the last post and you will see what I mean. In this post I want to talk about how we pay for health and how we pay for education, one tax too few and one tax too many -the tax on our gifted and talented students if they are successful and have to repay their student loans. First Health. There are two questions when it comes to Health. How do you deliver it? And, how do you pay for it? Politicians make the huge mistake of continually to address the first, but never addressing the second. Because of that, they never get the first one totally right. Let me explain. We need health provision from the day we are born to the day we die, and most of it at the beginning and end and of our lives, but an important part of it during our working lives to make sure we can earn a living. But we pay for it only during our working lives, in our National Insurance contributions and income tax.
