I am a huge gnr fan and I have to say that I am terribly disappointed with this book. She hung them on the wall leading up the stairs in our house. I sort of want to take you under my wing and give you a hug dude. Slash really exposes himself and gave us everything we might possibly want. Least Likely To Succeed 6. Roger Taylor is a singer, guitarist and drummer known for playing with legendary band Queen and for his work as a solo artist. I did like, however, that even though at this point he was really angry with Axl for everything that happened with Guns N' Roses, he made sure to say that this was his viewpoint, and that Axl no doubt had his own, and both were equally as valid. For anyone who grew up listening to "Appetite For Destruction" and screamed along to "Welcome to the Jungle," the story of that album's genesis from Slash's perspective is very intriguing. For me to sound like "me" I have to have a Marshall. But too much of the book is repetitive and old news. Various girlfriends are mentioned briefly, without much detail, until he talks about his wife. Off To The Races 9. Slash's narrative was also a bit all over the place - he'd be talking about one incident, and then jump to another, and then go on a third tangent, and then get back to his original thought. It seems like every chapter after page 50 is intentionally overly foreshadowing the demise of GNR and after a while, all of the drug experiences seem to blend together with the notable exception of drug-induced hallucations resembling the monster from "Predator" chasing our hero around a spa in Arizona. Slash isn't shy about talking frankly about his drug addictions and the deleterious effect it's had on his relationships and life in general. It's a cool place - they've got a bar, they play rock music, it's the last vestige of cool rock 'n' roll in the city. This was a good read, started slow, but built into a decent portrait of one of the most iconic rock guitarists of recent years. He became famous as the guitarist of the hard rock and heavy metal band Guns N' Roses , one of the most iconic rock groups to emerge in the s and considered by many to be one of the greatest bands of all time. It I love rock. He stole his signature top hat from a street shop, along with a belt. He has been sober since , and in he published his autobiography, titled simply Slash. They are cryptically unchanged. You know who was a great guitar player? He continued to play with them through their rendition of "Paradise City. But they definitely do to Slash, who, as much as you can tell from this book, seems very happy. Duff was the glue on that song - he came up with the breakdown, that wild rumbling bass line, and Izzy provided the texture. Among one is David Bowie who warns Slash at one of his lowest points, "You are exposing yourself to the darker realms of your subconscious being. During this time Slash and Axl were having some heated arguments about Guns N' Roses and what would happen next. I get that living on the road, touring, has its challenges. Fifteen years of over-drinking and drug abuse had swollen that organ to one stop short of exploding. I still live close to the Strip, just up the hill, and when people are visiting from out of town, the first place I send them is the Rainbow. That's to say nothing of Slash's penchant to say "More on that later" ad nauseum and the book's copy editor apparently having fallen asleep at the wheel I seriously lost track of all of the errors. Whether or not I deserve to be is another story. It is also an intensely personal account of struggle and triumph: as Guns N' Roses journeyed to the top, Slash battled his demons, escaping the overwhelming reality with women, heroin, coke, crack, vodka, and whatever else came along.
