Bradford Day Shelter is open seven days per week, 9.30am - 4pm

Where it offers free mid-day meals served from 12 noon to 2.00pm.

Free breakfast, hot drinks available all day, free laundry facilities, clothing store, toilets, baths, toiletries and health care.

It can offer a lifeline to people who are homeless, in need of housing or living in poor accommodation.

It is a warm, safe, sociable place to spend the day, but also a point of contact for getting help with housing and other problems. Advice and all kinds of practical help are on offer in easy-access comfortable surroundings.

Feed The Hungry Drop In - Light of the World Community Centre, Gaythorne Rd, Bradford, BD5 7ES

Every Wednesday evening from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, we provide a free meal for the Hungry.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy. A warm welcome awaits you. We provide soup, a main meal, dessert and tea/coffee.

Food Banks

Bradford Central FoodBank (part of the Trussell Trust) – Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, CAB and police identify people in crisis and will issue them with a foodbank voucher in the following postcode areas:

BD1, BD2, BD3, BD4, BD5, BD7, BD8.

Foodbank clients bring their voucher to the Bradford Central Foodbank centre which is open as follows Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11am till 1:30pm where it can be redeemed for three days emergency food.

Bingley Foodbank - is a community resource serving local people facing crises in their lives providing provide 3-day emergency food parcels to residents and the homeless in , Cottingley, , , , , and .

They are given to people in crisis, on presentation of a Bingley Foodbank voucher at Bingley Art Centre on Tuesdays & Fridays 10.30 - 12 noon and available from numerous local agencies, a list of local agencies can be found by visiting:

Homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and just need help

Bradford Council’s Housing Options Service offers a free and confidential service that can help you with different issues like housing and managing your money debts.

Specially trained team can help with all sorts of housing related problems. Together they can look at your situation and decide on the best way to help you tackle your problems to enjoy trouble-free housing.

Housing Options will carry out a simple options interview to find out how they can help you and the team have lots of experience in this subject and a network of contacts, and they can help in the following ways:

 Preventing you from becoming homeless

 Helping you to claim all the benefits you’re entitled to

 Helping you to find different accommodation that’s safe, good quality and right for you

 Working with your landlord on your behalf, and sorting out any problems or issues like rent arrears and repayment plans

 Referring you to supported housing schemes or organising any other support that you might need

 Showing you where to find other agencies and organisations that can help you with problems or worries

 Helping you to find secure private rented accommodation

 Giving you useful advice on things like debt, legal issues, employment and health matters

DISC’s Street Reach team work in partnership with Bradford Metropolitan District Council’s Supporting People Team and the Enhanced Options Trailblazer Team to provide a street outreach service that will help to reduce and address the needs of rough sleepers living in Bradford.

They provide advice and support to access accommodation and deal with a range of issues and can support you to:-

 Access emergency accommodation

 Access supported accommodation

 Secure longer term housing

 Access a bond and a home through private landlords

 Maximise your income e.g. claiming benefits

 Move In – set up utilities, budgeting and accessing furniture

Bradford Change Agents (Horton Housing) works in partnership throughout Bradford with services, the Council and Homelessness Hubs.

The project is designed to end the revolving door of rough sleeping and it is anticipate, through a coordinated approach to engagement, intensive working and maintaining strong bonds with other agencies.

It aim to work together to engage service users to ensure they are placed in suitable accommodation that will be maintained.

The main aims are:

 To identify rough sleepers and accommodate them

 To identify those who are at risk of becoming homeless

 Provide housing related support

 Assist in training/volunteering & job opportunities

You can apply to Bradford Change Agents directly or ask someone else to do so on your behalf.

This could be family or friends or someone from another agency for example a Housing Officer, Midwife, Social Worker, Community Psychiatric Nurse or Probation/Justice Worker.

Help and Accommodation

Hope Housing provides emergency accommodation in volunteers homes across Bradford for people 26 years old and over who have no-where to stay for that night.

If you do not have anywhere to sleep or would like to make a referral for someone tonight, please ring 01274 900764 up until 9pm every day. (If there’s no answer please do leave a message)

Bradford Nightstop provides emergency accommodation suitable for young people whether male or female aged 16 -25 and are homeless or likely to be made homeless today?

Bradford Nightstop does not accept self-referrals; you must be referred through an agency.

If you don't know where to get referred then go to the Bradford City Centre Project, Key House, The Information Shop for Young People , Youth Cafe, Shipley Youth Cafe or a Police Station.
