WYMX, AUGUSTA, GA M.D.-MARY PILLINGER: "The phone reaction to Phil Collins has been phenomenal ever since we started it off in a light rotation a month ago. It's been like watching an active volcano get- ting ready to explode. Now in a hot rotation, the enthusiasm behind 'In The Air Tonight' continues to spread like wildfire in Augusta with hot phones and hot sales...Spontaneous combustion is also setting in on 'The Stroke'. Let's face it, who wants to wango-tango when you can get stylishly stroked instead. Billy Squier's 'Don't Say No' should be saying yes to a position in our Top 10 sales in the next two weeks... REO Speedwagon faked me out last week. Just when I thought its battery was running low, REO gets recharged, regaining our #1 slot in Top 10 sales. They're followed by: 38 Special, Steve Winwood, AC/DC, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Robin Trower, Who, Santana, and the Dregs...As For Adds: Willie Nile, 'Golden Down'; Humble Pie; Joe Walsh, 'Illusion'; and, Mother's Finest 'Moving On'...Once a Southern punk rock band, Mother's Finest has steered into the iron age with mainstream All-American This album captures the intensity of the finest and their in-concert mastery.. .One Final Note: Looking forward to Christmas with Tom Petty, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Van Halen releases...Consideri u: The ghost of Doobie Brothers past, Tom Johnston."

WPDH, POUGHKEEPSIE, NY M.D.-STEW SCHANTZ: "Good morning. This week reminds me of that last week of November when the Rod Stewart and John Lennon albums came out on the same day. So much new music. When it rains, it pours and all that.. .1 love the new Dave Edmunds. But then again, I'm biased because I think Dave is great. Best cut: 'You Can't Get Me Up In One Of Those'...The new Joe Walsh arrived early and was welcomed. It's good to have some new Walsh on the radio...The new Bruce Cockburn continues with his acoustical line of music. Cockburn is one of the best these days. Don't miss 'Laughter', a track from an older album...The new Bram Tchaikovsky is better than the second one was. The 'Why Does My Mother Phone Me' cut will almost certainly be a hot track at PDH...Don't miss out on Zed, the latest British offering from Atlantic Records. A really fine mixture of music from heavy rock to lighter stuff...We have succumbed to the Ant hype invasion this week. The Ants are crawling on PDH...Also, the new Split Enz has some good tracks on it. There's no 'I Got You', however...The Roxy Music single may be a, big one for them this time around. I've been watching it sit on top of the British charts for weeks...Last but certainly not least is the new offering from Elton John. I'll save my thoughts on that one for next week, because I'm really not sure what I think of it yet...The Who returns to #1 this week on PDH with Phil Collins hot on their trail...Good Progress Made On: Willie Nile, Southsi e -Johnny, and Gary U.S. Bonds.. .Oh, I almost forgot to mention the new Jimmy Steinman album, fondly called the 'Bat Out Of Hell' clone. The fans are eating it up, with ketchup of course. That one will be around for a long time...Hot Tracks: Billy Squier, 'The Stroke'; and, Roger Taylor, 'Let's Get Crazy'... Speaking of which, it's time for me to go on the air. Till next time, be good."

WTPA, HARRISBURG, PA M.D.-BILL GRANT: "News: Ozzy Osbourne stopped by the station the afternoon before his show. We chatted on the air for about an hour; and no, he did not eat any fowl. He was a rather nice individual and easy to interview. I believe the interview was a great success, because we had 300 walk-ins to sell out the concert...This might be bad news. Since I've been Music Director, I've gotten to know a lot of different people. One of the nicest guys I know is Chris Uncangco. Unfortunately, he's no longer on the phones. But hopefully, he'll be back into the groove real soon. This is just a little wish of luck for you, Chris...When the good stuff comes in, it comes in all at once. One of my two of the week is Joe Wal -sTT- 'There Goes The Neighborhood'. Uniqueness is something to admire in any artist, and Joe Walsh has nobody in the neighborhood of his style. I'm glad he's still doing solo albums that are of this quality...The second favorite for this week: Jim Steinman's 'Bad For Good'. WOW!!! Excellent production, great vocals, great lyrics, great music, great musicianship. This is simply a g-r-e-a-t album. My picks are: 'Out Of The Frying Pan Into The Fire' and 'Stark Raving Love'. I'll have to agree with Bill, Todd does some fine guitar work...The Other Adds For The Week: Kim Carnes (She could be the best TUDTing lady on vinyl and this could be the biggest crossover record, ever. This simply surprised the hell out of me.); Southside Johnny (They're at their best live and this two-record set captures all their classics and none of the intensity is lost. We're going with 'The Fever'.)...We Re-Added: Rick Springfield. We were on this for a long time, so long we decided to move it to Recurrent. The phones were so hot while we were playing 'Jessie's Girl' that we decided to re-add Rick Springfield...AC/DC 'Big Balf 7 is the #1 phone song there is right now.. .Considering: Split Enz and Dave Edmunds."

WZZO, BETHLEHEM, PA P.D.-LYN COREY: "Adds: Jim Steinman and Joe Walsh... I've waited for this Walsh Lp, and it was worth waiting for... Request are hottest for AC/DC, but no less for Adam & The Ants; with Loverboy still hot on the phones...Saleswise: Greg Kihn has picked up. We've been telling you for weeks about Adam & Th -e- Tnts, and they're still selling strong.. .Also strong sales on: Humble Pie and Judas Priest...We want to thank Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Arden for the great promotion and the great show when they were in the Lehigh Valley...Linda Feder: Great meeting you. Let's eat and laugh soon. Also, thanks for all you've done with the Petty...Sorry to hear about Chris Uncangco. Chris, I look forward to working with you again soon. Don't wander too far from WZZO."

WXUS, LAFAYETTE, IN M.D.-BOB MAJERSKY: "Adds: Joe Walsh, 'Things', 'Rivers', 'Down On The Farm' and 'Life Of Illusion'; Dave Edmunds...Judas Priest moves to a heavier rotation and moves to 7 in sales...The Tom Petty single and Greg Kihn move into hot rotation...A stable week."

KKSN, PORTLAND, OR M.D.-COREY KEHOE: "After all this impatient waiting for the Dave Edmunds Lp, it's a pleasure to discover the contents are beyond all expectations. Even my favorite new group, the , make an appearance on this. We expect a lot of mileage from this Lp and we're leaning on 'You'll Never Get Me Up', '', 'Three Time Loser' ad the incredible remake of ''. Truly a hot one. Anyone who thinks this is too for the average person should take another careful listen. There's plenty of material on this for any rock and roll format. Besides, rockabilly is our roots and it's cominq back... The Doobie Brothers should beg Tom Johnston to come back to the fold. See you later, Michael McDonald...And then there's the new Joe Walsh, who always sounds better without the Eagles and 'There Goes The Neighborhood' is no exception. He looks like John Lennon in 'How I Won The War'...Jim Steinman's Lp is the most lavishly produced work to come out in some time, thanks to Todd Rundqren. A powerhouse of lyrics and sound...Adds: Dave Edmunds, David Lindley, Jim Steinman, Chaka Kahn, Joe Walsh, Bruce Cockburn, Stanley- Oarke Project and Elton John 45 and 1.akin' Stevens single."
