Nou, je staat verstelt van het aantal vertrouwde songs die hij schreef en waar ook een ander brood in zag en geen van de minsten: Dr. Feelgood, Dave Edmunds, Nick Lowe, Gary Brooker, tot zelfs Ricky Nelson toe. 2:07 2 You Know What I Mean (Jupp) Repertoire MICKEY JUPP A1 You Know What I Mean, Mickey Jupp op het Stiff-label, het coolste label in 1978 (Elvis Costello en Nick Lowe zater daar ook op). Mickey maakte toen deel uit van de promotietoer door Engeland, per spoor, samen met Wreckless Eric, Lene Lovich, Jona Lewie en Rachel Sweet, de Be Stiff Tour, genoemd naar een single van DEVO (die daar ook opzaten). 2:57 3 Be Stiff (Casale/Lewis/Jupp) Repertoire MICKEY JUPP C19 Be Stiff in de Mickey Jupp versie met Geraint Watkins op piano. Wilco Johnson van de originele Dr. Feelgood line-up was al fan van Mickey toen die nog deel uitmaakte van de groep Legend, die begin jaren 70 voor Vertigo een paar iconische lp's opnamen. Gary Brooker van Procol Harum faam, ook van Southend én van jongsaf met Mickey bevriend, nam solo het nummer Pilot op uit datzelfde Juppanese album, waar hij zelf trouwens aan meewerkte. 3:50 10 Pilot (Jupp) Repertoire MICKEY JUPP A20 Mickey Jupp's Pilot uit Juppanese, met Chris Spedding, Dave Mattacks en Gary Brooker die het dus later zelf adopteerde voor zijn album No More Fear Of Flying. Ook hij zat duidelijk met vliegangst opgescheept! Pilot was niet eens de enige Mickey Jupp song daarop, ook het grappige Switchboard Susan, wat naast Gary Brooker ook door Nick Lowe en door The Searchers werd geapprecieerd. 4:00 11 Switchboard Susan (Jupp) Repertoire MICKEY JUPP A3 Switchboard Susan uit Long Distance Romancer van Mickey Jupp. In 1982 had Mickey moeten doorbreken met zijn album Some People Can't Dance geproduceerd door Mike Vernon waaruit alvast Joggin' als single werd gelicht om samen te vallen met de London Marathon. Alleen was Mickey daarop té kritisch op wie wel eens iets aan zijn conditie wou beginnen doen met alleen maar running shoes aan en de single flopte.     JAMES BALDWIN AS A WRITER OF SHORT FICTION: AN EVALUATION dayton G. Holloway A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate School of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY December 1975 618208 ii Abstract Well known as a brilliant essayist and gifted novelist, James Baldwin has received little critical attention as short story writer. This dissertation analyzes his short fiction, concentrating on character, theme and technique, with some attention to biographical parallels. The first three chapters establish a background for the analysis and criticism sections. Chapter 1 provides a biographi­ cal sketch and places each story in relation to Baldwin's novels, plays and essays. Chapter 2 summarizes the author's theory of fiction and presents his image of the creative writer. Chapter 3 surveys critical opinions to determine Baldwin's reputation as an artist. The survey concludes that the author is a superior essayist, but is uneven as a creator of imaginative literature. Critics, in general, have not judged Baldwin's fiction by his own aesthetic criteria. The next three chapters provide a close thematic analysis of Baldwin's short stories. Chapter 4 discusses "The Rockpile," "The Outing," "Roy's Wound," and "The Death of the Prophet," a Bi 1 dungsroman about the tension and ambivalence between a black minister-father and his sons. In contrast, Chapter 5 treats the theme of affection between white fathers and sons and their ambivalence toward social outcasts—the white homosexual and black demonstrator—in "The Man Child" and "Going to Meet the Man." Chapter 6 explores the theme of escape from the black community and the conseauences of estrangement and identity crises in "Previous Condition," "Sonny's Blues," "Come Out the Wilderness" and "This Morning, This Evening, So Soon." The last chapter attempts to apply Baldwin's aesthetic principles to his short fiction.

    THE TWENTY GREATEST MUSIC CONCERTS I'VE EVER SEEN Whew, I'm done. Let me remind everyone how this worked. I would go through my Ipod in that weird Ipod alphabetical order and when I would come upon an artist that I have seen live, I would replay that concert in my head. (BTW, since this segment started I no longer even have an ipod. All my music is on my laptop and phone now.) The number you see at the end of the concert description is the number of times I have seen that artist live. If it was multiple times, I would do my best to describe the one concert that I considered to be their best. If no number appears, it means I only saw that artist once. Mind you, I have seen many artists live that I do not have a song by on my Ipod. That artist is not represented here. So although the final number of concerts I have seen came to 828 concerts (wow, 828!), the number is actually higher. And there are "bar" bands and artists (like LeCompt and Sam Butera, for example) where I have seen them perform hundreds of sets, but I counted those as "one," although I have seen Lecompt in "concert" also. Any show you see with the four stars (****) means they came damn close to being one of the Top Twenty, but they fell just short. So here's the Twenty. Enjoy and thanks so much for all of your input. And don't sue me if I have a date wrong here and there.

The protagonists to this dispute are the founding members of the music group PROCOL HARUM. They both contributed to the writing1 of the group’s biggest hit and most well-known song, A Whiter Shade of Pale, released in 1967. 2. On 27 April 1990, Mr Reid filed for the trade mark PROCOL HARUM in his sole name. It is registered for “Entertainer services; all included in Class 41”. 3.     PROCOL HARUM 2014 BIOGRAPHY Procol Harum are still going strong. March 2014 sees a new double CD, Inside/Outside, celebrating over forty years of studio and live recordings. In addition the spring will see a new download-only release, Some Long Road, featuring tracks from the band’s 2012 US tour. Alongside this Procol continue to tour many parts of the world, and are considering options on three continents at the moment. You could not be blamed for thinking that, with the monumental success of Procol's first smash hit, the band just stopped there, like so many others. Even the recently-awarded accolade of ‘most- played single of the past seventy-five years’ has not quelled their need to go forward: hence 2014’s new live album. In the past couple of years they have released ten re-mastered CD albums, plus the 2CD anthology Secrets of the Hive (all generally available in Europe, and sourceable on import); their DVDs In Concert with the Danish National Concert Orchestra and Live at Union Chapel have been widely acclaimed. Take It Away (promotional film) The filming of the promotional video for 'Take It Away' took place at EMI's Elstree Studios in Boreham Wood and was directed by John MacKenzie. Six hundred members of the Wings Fun Club were invited along as a live audience to the filming, which took place on Wednesday 23 June 1982. The band comprised Paul on bass, Eric Stewart on lead, George Martin on electric piano, Ringo and Steve Gadd on drums, Linda on tambourine and the horn section from the Q Tips. In between the various takes of 'Take It Away' Paul and his band played several numbers to entertain the audience, including 'Lucille', 'Bo Diddley', 'Peggy Sue', 'Send Me Some Lovin", 'Twenty Flight Rock', 'Cut Across Shorty', 'Reeling And Rocking', 'Searching' and 'Hallelujah I Love Her So'. The promotional film made its debut on Top Of The Pops on Thursday 15 July 1982. Take It Away (single) A single by Paul which was issued in Britain on Parlophone 6056 on Monday 21 June 1982 where it reached No. 14 in the charts and in America on Columbia 18-02018 on Saturday 3 July 1982 where it reached No. 10 in the charts. 'I'll Give You A Ring' was on the flip.
