To accomplish these objectives, speakers, beggining with keynote speaker Marjorie East, focused on issues such as the profession of home economics and how to build it: the future of education, including the importance of the affective domain, the accountability movement, and the National Institute of Education evaluation of consumer and homemaking education; and needs in secondary home economics education programs in the 1980s.
