1. Instructors must be Adult Members of the Side Saddle Association. 2. Where instruction facilities are shown, the information has been supplied by the Instructors concerned in their Annual Return. The Association accepts no responsibility for its accuracy or completeness. It is strongly recommended that Instructors have their own insurance as they are not automatically covered under SSA insurance. Insurance is available through the B.H.S. Please see the B.H.S. website for details www.bhs.org.uk. 3. Pupils are advised to satisfy themselves that instructors have appropriate insurance cover, and preferably a current Equine Specific First Aid certificate (or above) and to have preferably attended a BHS Child Protection Course. The SSA endorses the BHS Safeguarding Children Policy. 4. All Instructors are reappointed annually and must attend an SSA Seminar in full at least once every three years in order to instruct in the United Kingdom. Failure to attend will result in the Instructor being removed from the list. 5. Instructors are in a position of trust and responsibility and therefore must uphold the standards and policies of the SSA.
The letters before each instructor’s name indicates the level of instruction available: A = to all levels; B & C = beginners and novices Key to abbreviations: LY = use of licensed yard for instruction LY (ABRS) – licensed yard approved by (name of equestrian authority) J = jumping H = horses available for side saddle lessons L = livery facilities V = video HA = good hacking country SS = side saddles sometimes available for hire IS = indoor school OS = outdoor school XC = cross country course available HS = horses accepted for side saddle schooling R = residential (on or off the premises) RD = willing to assist at Riding for the Disabled Group (Regd.) indicates intention to register on the Current B.H.S.
