2 » The Montverde Academy for Basketball Development Be your best at Montvere Academy's Center for Basketball Development (CBD), led by 4x National Coach of the Year, Kevin Boyle. CBD is an advanced basketball development program for grades 7-12 and post graduate studies. This elite basketball development program offers day and boarding students the next level of training in their basketball career.

We believe that learning is much more than knowledge gained in the classroom. Our comprehensive external programs are designed to provide a balance of athletics and academics to create an opportunity for students to obtain a clear and unwavering path to their athletic career.

Academics If your goal is to excel, then Montverde Academy is the place for you. Our seniors have a 100% college acceptance rate to schools including Princeton, Harvard, Yale and University of California, Berkeley.

Montverde Academy is an international, college preparatory school for grades Pre-K3 through 12 and post graduate studies. Nearly 80% of our faculty have more than 10 years of teaching experience. Many of our educators serve as club/organization advisors, mentors, and coaches. We also have an experienced dorm parent staff who work with the boarding population throughout their educational experience at Montverde Academy.

Your Path to Basketball Excellence Starts Here. » 3 Kevin Boyle - CBD Program Founder and Director, Head Coach Varsity Boys Basketball, National High School Championships 2013, 2014, 2015 No other program offers the training you will receive from Montverde Academy and the 4x National Coach of the Year, Kevin Boyle. For over two decades, he has coached elite high schools programs, consistently ranked in the nation’s top 25 in various national polls such as MaxPreps.com and USA Today in each of the last 20 years. He led St. Patrick High School to national prominence, winning five TOC Championships, eight non-public North Championships, 15 Union County Championships, and finishing as The Newark Star Ledger’s #1 ranked team in the state six times during his tenure. In 2012, his first season at Montverde Academy, Boyle led his team to a #9 national ranking and reached the finals of the ESPN Boys’ Basketball High School National Championship. He went on to win the next three consecutive national championships televised live on ESPN. He is considered by college coaches and analysts as one of the best teachers and strategists of the game at any level.

Montverde Academy basketball athletes have been awarded over 78 collegiate scholarships totaling over ten million dollars in the last ten years. Powerhouse basketball programs including University of Kentucky, Clemson University, the University of Florida and ivy league programs such as Harvard University are just a few of the athletic scholarships that have been awarded to graduates of Montverde Academy.

Your Path to Basketball Excellence Starts Here. » 7 Ready, Set, Go! 100% College Counseling COLLEGE We take our responsibility as a college preparatory school ACCEPTANCE seriously. The college guidance staff is available year-round RATE and will work with you to decide your path to higher learning. Throughout the year, admission officers from more than 75 colleges and universities visit with students on campus. Your path to college begins as a freshman, with the PSAT and PLAN tests. These exams prepare you for the SAT and ACT which are required for college admission.

Sophomore students participate in the Sophomore College Experience, a unique Montverde Academy college fair held on campus. Juniors continue the college placement process with the PSAT, SAT, ACT and the SAT Prep course. By participating in PSAT testing as a junior, students are able to enter competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Students are also invited to attend a college fair off campus where over 130 college admission representatives are available for informal interviews.

Seniors start the year with a fun and informative seniors only weekend retreat. Advisors and college counselors lead the weekend of activities and team building while clarifying the expectations for the fall semester. You will be introduced to tools and resources available to make your path to higher learning easier and stress free.

10 » The Center for Basketball Development Experience Counts Tim Crowley For the past 25 years, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Tim Crowley has developed several high-level performance training facilities and has worked with amateur and professional athletes in virtually every sport. Coach Crowley was a member of the 2008 US Olympic triathlon coaching staff and has been a member of the USA Triathlon National Team coaching staff for the past five years. He was the 2007 USA Triathlon development Coach of the Year, and the 2009 USA Triathlon Elite Coach of the Year. Tim holds several coaching licenses with USA Triathlon and USA Cycling, and holds certifications with National Strength and Conditioning Association and National Academy of Sports Medicine. Crowley oversees a staff of highly experience trainers, and works directly with you to create a training program that will bring you to the next level in your athletic career.

Your Path Basketball to Excellence Starts Here. » 11 Strength Training and Conditioning The Strength and Conditioning Department works closely with the coaching staff at CBD to determine each student athlete’s individual needs.

Program Goals One of the major goals of the program is to reduce the incidence and severity of injuries so that you can be on the court every day. The highly trained staff works closely with medical staff including athletic trainers, school nurses, doctors, physical therapists and other medical professionals that are working with you. This program allows us to create a comprehensive plan to best suit each and every student athlete. Along with extensive training in the weight room, we work closely with the you and the MACBD coaches on other aspects of high-performance basketball which may include nutrition, flexibility, and mobility.

Your first step to becoming a part of CBD begins with our admissions office. • Apply by completing the online application and paying the fee of $100. • Request an official copy of the applicant’s transcripts. • An official copy of the 8th grade through 12th grade school transcripts, including prior year’s standardized testing (if applicable) and attendance information. • International Students – All international students must submit two copies of your transcripts: one copy in the native language, and one copy translated into English. • Submit recommendation forms from your current English teacher, math teacher and Principal or Guidance Counselor. • Submit a copy of the your current year’s transcripts as well as transcripts from the two previous years. • Submit a copy of the your passport or birth certificate. • International students are asked to submit TOEFL, IELTS, ELTis, SLATE standardized test scores, if available. • For additional requirements and entrance exam testing information for all grade levels, please visit montverde.org/admissions process.
