The Vikings return two starters and 7 letterwinners from last year’s 28-win squad, a school record, that reached the national semifinals. Headlined by NSIC preseason player to watch Emily Schulte and 2012 second team All-NSIC guard Shaunteva Ashley, Augustana will look to be an even more up-tempo team than in the past while relying heavily on the pair of guards. Ashley is leading returning scorer for the Vikings this season, and looks to up her 10.5 points per game average from last year. Schulte finished the 2012-13 season with the third-most three-pointers made on the team with 46. Augustana opens the season up against Jamestown College on Nov. 16 at the Elmen Center. BEMIDJI STATE - The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team opens the 2013-14 season Nov. 12 hosting Mayville State University beginning at 7 p.m., then hits the road for Colorado to play University of Colorado-Coloraod Springs Nov. 15 and Western State University (Colo.) Nov. 16 at the UCCS Classic. BSU returns 10 student-athletes, which includes four starters from a season ago. The Bea- vers finished with 11 wins to increase their win total for the third consecutive season. BSU will be led by three seniors this season, Jessie Althoff (8.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg), Morgan Lee (13.8 ppg, 64 3-pointers) and Kate Warmack (11.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 52.8 FG%). The Beavers welcome eight newcomers to the mix this season. BSU participated in two exhibitions versus NCAA Division I competition before beginning the regular season.
