Page 3 Important Christmas Concert Info

Here are all the details you need for the students participating in the Christmas Concerts.

The Christmas Concerts are on Thursday, December 19th. We will do TWO performances: 1:30 p.m. and then again at 6:30 p.m. It is very important that all participating students are present for both performances because that is how we have rehearsed – and the students need everyone present so we can do our best! Our audiences deserve to see the best and same performances no matter which concert they attend!

The classes and ensembles included in this concert are: the First Grade, the Third Grade, the Fifth Grade, the Beginning and Advanced Bands, the Recorder Choir and the 4th & 5th Grade Choir. (Our spring concert will feature students in Kindergarten, Second and Fourth Grades as well as the Middle School Choir.)

Our first concert takes place during the school day. Students should wear their concert clothing to school on that day. For the evening performance, students should report to their classrooms by 6:10 p.m. so the teachers can get them organized and then down to the gym to start the program on time.

The girls should wear Christmas dresses in red, green, and white, or other dressy outfits that would be appropriate for a wedding or concert. (I understand this year’s colors feature lots of gold and silver which is fine as well.) They can also wear a Christmas sweater or top with a skirt. If they wear a dress or top with spaghetti straps, please wear a little sweater over the top. Most of the students are doing movement so they should be able to dance in their shoes (be careful of high heels). If the shoes are slick, put duct tape or masking tape on the soles.

Boys should wear dress shirts with a Christmas tie, or a sweater appropriate for the season. They could also wear red, green, or white turtlenecks along with nice slacks. I would prefer dress shoes, but if all they have is athletic shoes, that is fine. No one should wear any fleece or jeans.

All of our students should dress up for this special presentation. I certainly do not expect families to purchase clothes for this concert, but please try to look your best for Christmas!

The students have been working very hard for this concert! I hope that you and your whole family can join us as we greet the season with a musical salute!

One final word, schedule conflicts for athletic practices and other repeat events should not take precedence over the school’s official concerts. We want to make sure that both performances are awesome – and are presented as planned! (Especially for all those family members who can only come in the evening!)

Thank you for all you do to support your students in their musical education. Let’s come together as our Nativity family to celebrate the birth of our Lord, Christ! Merry Christmas! See you and yours on the19th!

Help! I Need Some Folks to H-E-L-P!

Calling all those parents who can help set-up the stage for our upcoming Christmas Concert! We will need lots of help!

We will be setting up the stage on Monday, December 16th, starting at 6:00 p.m. If we have enough help, we should be able to get everything set up in about an hour. Many hands make light work. There is some heavy lifting, so dads especially are needed and wanted to help. High school students needing service hours are also welcome.

If you can help, please email Mrs. Hamm at [email protected] to let her know you will be available.

We can’t do the show without the stage! If your child is in First, Third or Fifth Grade – or in one of our bands or choirs, we could really use your help. Thank you!!!

Mrs. Hamm Music Educator

PS We will tear the whole stage down after the concert on Thursday, December 19th. We will need a group of people willing to help with that strike as well!
