An Open Letter to President Biden and Vice President Harris
An Open Letter to President Biden and Vice President Harris Dear President Biden and Vice President Harris, We, the undersigned, are writing to urge your administration to reconsider the United States Army Corps of Engineers’ use of Nationwide Permit 12 (NWP12) to construct large fossil fuel pipelines. In Memphis, Tennessee, this “fast-tracked” permitting process has given the green light to the Byhalia pipeline, despite the process wholly ignoring significant environmental justice issues and the threat the project potentially poses to a local aquifer which provides drinking water to one million people. The pipeline route cuts through a resilient, low-wealth Black community, which has already been burdened by seventeen toxic release inventory facilities. The community suffers cancer rates four times higher than the national average. Subjecting this Black community to the possible health effects of more environmental degradation is wrong. Because your administration has prioritized the creation of environmental justice, we knew knowledge of this project would resonate with you. The pipeline would also cross through a municipal well field that provides the communities drinking water. To add insult to injury, this area poses the highest seismic hazard in the Southeastern United States. The Corps purports to have satisfied all public participation obligations for use of NWP 12 on the Byhalia pipeline in 2016 – years before the pipeline was proposed. We must provide forums where communities in the path of industrial projects across the country can be heard. Neighborhoods like Boxtown and Westwood in Memphis have a right to participate in the creation of their own destinies and should never be ignored. -

STAGING SODOMY: DEVIANCE AND DEVOTION ON THE EARLY ENGLISH STAGE A Thesis Presented for the Master of Arts Degree The University of Mississippi Department of English Bobby Pelts May 2012 Copyright © 2012 by Bobby Pelts All rights reserved. ABSTRACT This thesis is an examination of the multivalent category of sodomy in late medieval works of and about biblical drama: A Tretise of Miraclis Pleyinge, the York Joseph’s Trouble About Mary and the N-Town Passion plays. Because the Tretise of Miraclis Pleyinge invokes charges of sodomy in its attack on biblical drama, this work argues that the medieval stage is particularly hospitable to exploring the queer moments of Christian theology. Focusing on the sodomitic relationships of Christ’s life as they are revealed in York’s Joseph’s Trouble and the N-Town Passion sequences, this thesis argues that these plays problematize Christ’s legendary hostile relationship to the sin against nature. -

TV Shows Tried. by SciFiOne (scifione.net) Show Name Watch Ln Yr Tried Review / Comments Final results Call Me Kat No 0.5 2021 I was almost instantly bored and did not get far. Abandoned Call Your Mother unlikely 0.5 2021 A no laughs pilot for a sitcom about an empty nest mom who can't let go flying to LA to be with her semi-functional kids. I'll try one more. L.A.'s Finest No 1.0 2021 A much too gritty and graphic cop / crime drama.. Abandoned Mr Mayor No 0.5 2021 This sitcom pilot was too stupid and acrimonious. I did not get far. Abandoned New Tricks OK 1.0 2021 A slightly humorous 2004 UK police procedural. A team of retired old school Disposable male cops lead by a not so young female detective investigates old crimes. The personal life bits are weak but the detective interactions are good. Queen's Gambit OK 1.0 2021 A 7 part miniseries on Netflix about a young damaged and addicted character Disposable who just happens to be a chess prodigy too. It's about 33% too long. Resident Alien No 1.0 2021 Two votes. One= nothing was happening. Two= it was dumb. We gave up less Abandoned than half way. Later I finished it & it was OK at 120% speed= not worth it. Shetland No 1.0 202 Slow, dour, dark. and nasty police murder investigation series in the Shetlands. Abandoned Well done, but way to unlikable to watch. Vera No 1.5 2021 A well done police murder detective show but too long, slow, and depressing Abandoned (even the irascible protagonist). -

LEXINGTON HERALD-LEADER | LEXGO.COM WEEKENDER: STAYING IN FRIDAY | AUGUST.10.2012 | 23 DVDs TUNE IN REVIEWS AND NEWS TELEVISION ‘Marley’ tells it like he was By Rob Lowman Los Angeles Daily News Marley is a fascinating 2½ -hour biographical documentary about the great Jamaican reggae singer. The film, directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland), hardly makes the artist out to be a saint. Bob Marley was stubborn, hard at times toward his children and not always faithful to his wife. But Macdonald gives us a sharp portrait of a complex man who more than 30 years after his death remains a towering figure in pop music as well as a cultural one. Exclusive: Chris Heyerdahl - from "Twilight" to "Sanctuary" to "Hell on Wheels" Written by Jamie Ruby Monday, 09 January 2012 14:32 Exclusive Interview with Chris Heyerdahl of Stargate Atlantis, Sanctuary, Hell on Wheels , The Twilight Saga Interview by Jamie Ruby Written by Jamie Ruby One can see Chris Heyerdahl it seems everywhere these days, even if he's not always recognizable. Heyerdahl has played a variety of characters both in movies and in television, but he almost never looks the same. Some of his more popular roles include his role of Todd the Wraith on Syfy's Stargate: Atlantis (where he also played the more recognizable Halling), Marcus in the hugely popular Twilight film series, his dual roles on Sanctuary as both Biggie (Bigfoot) and John Druitt. More recently Heyerdahl has also joined the cast of AMC's Hell on Wheels as the Swede. Heyerdahl recently sat down with Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision to talk about a variety of his roles. Photo © Rob Daly 2011 Heyerdahl did not originally expect to become an actor. "I didn't really think of acting professionally as ever really being an option or part of my future. But I was doing a show in high school and there was a professional group that was going to do the same show. They came to see how we were doing ours and how we were doing the technical aspects, changing the scenes, et cetera. And they spoke to myself and one other person in that production and invited us to be a part of the show.
