12 BOWL Magazine • May / June 2019 www.ncausbca.org In last year’s tournament, Eugenia McDonald left the 5-7- 10 split; this year, it was Jennifer Baker. An embarrassed Baker (left) was unable to grab the cell phone from Berni Miller, who passes it to Quintina Jefferson, who at right becomes the official photographer to document the moment. Joining Baker and Miller in the “celebration” are Karla Pereira (left) and Tiffanie Bell, who respectively arrived on the scene from one and two pair of lanes away.

Once again this year, members of the Swing Sistas — (back row from left) Dominique Coates, Quintina Jefferson, Tiffanie Bell, Amanda Wise, Stephanie Dyson, Kristina Milam, Karla Pereira, and (front) Alfreda Jefferson — made their presence known: Bell won the Scratch All-Events and teamed with Wise to capture the Scratch Doubles; Pereira won the Scratch Singles; and Alfreda Jefferson’s 280 was the high game of the tournament. www.ncausbca.org BOWL Magazine • May / June 2019 13 USBC Convention & Annual Meeting Report Secretaries must file final averages within 15 days of league’s completion

Muriel Casey, a Bowl America Chantilly league member, recently was honored at the USBC Women’s Championships in Wichita, Kan., after joining the 50-Year Club. She made her debut at the 1970 event in Tulsa, Okla., and has made it back to the tournament USBC each year since.

Ja’Sean “Jay” Billings (left) of Suitland, Md., and Andru Blaney of Cheapeake Beach, Md., emerged as division champions of the NCAUSBCA Youth 600 Club Tournament of Champions held March 16 at Bowl America Dranesville. In the “180 and Above” average division, second seed Billings defeated third- seed Corey O’Neill of Waldorf, Md., 204-172 to meet top seed Garrett Meadows of Springfield, Va., for the title. In one of the most exciting and dramatic championship matches in recent years, Billings, whose chances for victory appeared all but dead after eight frames, took advantage of Meadows’ ninth-frame open and came out on top, 214-201. Meanwhile, Blaney, top seed in the “Under 180” division, breezed to victory with a 267-179 conquest of second seed Jordyn Moore of Temple Hills, Md.
