The win also marks Bowie State’s ninth overall CIAA Crown (2005, 2006, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018). The Bulldogs won the double-elimination tournament by scores of 135-165, 177- 190, 152-136, 154-147, 190-187 and 191-180. Senior Dia- mond Carter (Buffalo, N.Y.) and freshman Cayla Snowden (Parkville, Md.) were selected to the All-Tournament Team. Carter was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Championships for the second year in a row. As a result of its championship, the team competed in the National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship on April 6 in Millsboro, Del., but lost to Division I Uni- versity of Maryland Eastern Shore in the opening round. 2019 PBA BILLY The Professional Bowlers Association is now accepting WELU SCHOLARSHIP applications for the 2019 PBA Billy Welu Scholarship APPLICATIONS NOW Award that recognizes exemplary qualities in male or BEING ACCEPTED female college students who excel in academics as well as in the sport of bowling. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship. To be eligible, candidates must be amateur bowlers who are currently in college (preced- ing the application date) and maintaining at least a 2.5/4.0 GPA or equivalent. Applications must be post- marked by June 21. The scholarship was established in 1982 in memory of the PBA Hall of Famer who served as television analyst alongside legendary ABC broadcaster and PBA Hall of Famer Chris Schenkel on the “Pro Bowl- ers Tour” series prior to his death in 1974.
