A Look at Nebraska’s 10.0 Club Junior Emily Parsons’ perfect 10.0 on vault on Feb. 17 at NC State gave her membership to one of Nebraska gymnastics’ elite groups: the 10.0 club. Before Parsons’ vault, the last Husker to score a 10.0 was Richelle Simpson, who was awarded a 10.0 on floor at the Arkansas Quadrangular on March 19, 2005. Simpson achieved eight flawless routines in her Husker career from 2002 to 2005. Eight gymnasts have combined for 18 perfect scores in the last seven years. Ten of the 10.0 marks have been tallied at home at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, while eight were scored on the road.

Senior Stephanie Carter was honored as Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week for the second time this season after finishing Vault second on vault (9.90) and floor (9.875) on March 23 against Kentucky. Carter is a two-time All-Big 12 honoree. Before coming to Nebraska, Meloche competed for Coach Carol-Angela Orchard at Sport Sabrina Long Seneca in Toronto, Ontario, and was a seven-year member of the Canadian National Team with Sophomore • 5-3 • All-Around • Tulsa, Okla. fellow Husker Kylie Stone and former NU gymnast Richelle Simpson. At the 2002 Canadian American Academy of Homeschooling/Krafft Academy of Gymnastics National Championships, Meloche took third place in the all-around while claiming a gold medal on the uneven bars and silver on vault. In addition, Meloche’s team placed third at Honors the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England, in 2002, where she captured the bronze •2003 Junior Olympic National Vault Champion medal on bars and went on to take another bronze on vault.

Meloche was born July 16, 1985 in Longueuil, Quebec, and is the daughter of Monique Dubois and Pierre Meloche. She has one sister, Melissa. A 2004 graduate of Northview Heights Secondary School in Toronto, Ontario, Meloche was a member of the honor roll, and is a nutritional science and dietetics major at Nebraska. A strong student-athlete in Sophomore Sabrina Long’s 2007 season was cut short due to a torn right labrum that required and out of the gym, Meloche is a three-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor surgery and rehabilitation for the remainder of the competitive year.
