Abstract: The work focuses on two funerary inscriptions from the Sepolcreto Salario in Rome, which were found in the early 1900, related to two distinct funerary enclosures. Parole chiave: Roma, Sepolcreto Salario, cippo, recinto funerario, liberti Keywords: Rome, Sepolcreto Salario, cippus, funerary enclosure, liberti i recente, e del tutto casualmente, è stato possibile localizzare nel giardino di Dun villino in via Piemonte 62 a Roma due iscrizioni già pubblicate delle quali, però, si ignorava il luogo di conservazione. 1. Il primo dei due reperti è un cippo funerario in travertino con la parte superiore centinata e mancante di una porzione di quella inferiore, alto 80 cm e largo 36 cm1 (fig.1 -2). Il pezzo è stato rinvenuto a Roma nel 1909 in occasione della realizzazione delle fondazioni per la costruzione di un palazzina nei terreni del marchese Almerici, in Corso d’Italia all’altezza dell’attuale civico 35b al lato della chiesta di Santa Te- resa d’Avila. Il reperto è stato pubblicato subito dopo la sua scoperta da A. Pasqui in Notizie degli Scavi e ripreso nel Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum senza alcuna * Università di Macerata, Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici. Questo lavoro è realizzato nell’ambito del progetto FFI2015-68571, del Grup consolidat LITTERA 2017SGR241. Sul terminus3 corre il seguente testo: C(aius) Norbânus C(ai) l(ibertus) Mama In fr(onte) p(edes) XIIII In a(gro) p(edes) XII L’anno successivo al suo ritrovamento nello stesso cantiere del marchese Almerici a Corso d’Italia è venuto alla luce un cippo gemello caratterizzato dalla stessa iscri- zione, uguale sia nel testo che nella disposizione, e pertanto pertinente alla medesima area sepolcrale (fig. 3). Brevemente descritto da A. Pasqui in Notizie degli Scavi del 1910, e poi ripreso nel Corpus4, sembra misurasse 142 cm di altezza e 36 cm di larghezza e che avesse uno spessore di 14 cm. Queste o analoghe misure vanno dunque supposte anche per il summenzionato esemplare parzialmente mancante individuato nel villino di via Piemonte. È incerto se nel medesimo cantiere del marchese Almerici in Corso d’Italia sia stato rinvenuto anche un terzo cippo con lo stesso corredo epigrafico. Non è infatti chiaro se il terminus pubblicato da G. Gatti (fig. 4) nelle sue notizie dedicate ai «recenti trovamenti di antichità a Roma e nel suburbio» nel Bullettino della Commissione Archeologica Comunale del 19115, coincida con uno dei due summenzionati esem- plari, senza che si possa stabilire a quale, o sia piuttosto un ulteriore terzo cippo pertinente al medesimo locus sepolturae e caratterizzato dallo stesso testo. I due, o forse tre, cippi delimitavano dunque l’area della sepoltura di uno dei li- berti dei Norbani6. Non è purtroppo possibile stabilire con sicurezza a quale dei membri di questa gens il defunto sia riferibile anche se è fortemente probabile che 2. A. Pasqui, «Roma. Neanche la descrizione del lemma CIL VI, 38671 contribuisce a far luce sulla que- stione poiché dopo la menzione della bibliografia delle due iscrizioni distinte dalle lettere a e b segue la notazione «exemplum alterum Gatti bull. comun. 1911 p. 219 nr. 27» ove l’aggettivo alterum può riferirsi al secondo dei due pezzi citati in precedenza, ossia a quello contraddistinto dalla lettera b (ma il fac simile non mostra segni di mancanze), o a un terzo esemplare diverso da a e b. 6. Il riquadro evidenzia la proprietà Almerici in Corso d’Italia Giulia Baratta, Su due iscrizioni del Sepolcreto Salario… orizzonte tardo-repubblicano o augusteo, non aiutano a fare chiarezza anche in virtù del fatto che non si conoscono le date di morte dei due Norbani consoli, ammesso che uno dei due sia stato il patronus del defuto. Il cognomen di questo, Mama, che trova alcune altre attestazioni a Roma10, sembra tradire un’origine microasiatica11. 2. Anche l’altro reperto è un cippo funerario in travertino, mancante, per quanto si può vedere, di una porzione della terminazione superiore, alto 90 cm, largo 36 cm e caratterizzato dalla presenza di un foro circolare nella parte inferiore destinato all’inserimento di un tronco per assicurare la stabilità della pietra (fig. 6). Anche questo pezzo è stato rinvenuto nel 1909 nella proprietà del marchese Almerici in Corso d’Italia, all’altezza dell’odierno civico 35b, insieme ad un terminus gemello. Entrambi sono stati pubblicati a ridosso del loro rinvenimento da E. Ghislanzoni in Notizie degli Scavi del 190912 e poi recepiti nel Corpus13. Dagli apografi di E. Ghi- slanzoni, che seppure molto sommari e semplificati mettono però bene in evidenza le perdite di entrambi i cippi e le lacune dei loro corredi epigrafici (figg. 7-8), è oggi possibile identificare con il nr. 16 della sua relazione, e dunque con CIL VI, 37485, il terminus di via Piemonte, il cui testo recita14: L(ucius) Orbius [L(uci) l(ibertus)] Galata Orbia (mulieris) l(iberta) Acume M(arcus) Naneius M(arci) l(ibertus) Mena In f(ronte) p(edes) XII in a(gro) pedes XII 10.

The migration process and employment in a country of which they are not nationals can enhance women’s earning opportunities, autonomy and empowerment, and thereby change gender roles and responsibilities and contribute to gender equality. But they also expose women to serious violation of their human rights. Whether in the recruitment stage, the journey or living and working in another country, women migrant workers, especially those in irregular situations, are vulnerable to harassment, intimidation or threats to themselves and their families, economic and sexual exploitation, racial discrimination and xenophobia, poor working conditions, increased health risks and other forms of abuse, including trafficking into forced labour, debt bondage, involuntary servitude and situations of captivity. Women migrant workers, whether documented or undocumented, are much more vulnerable to discrimination, exploitation and abuse – relative not only to male migrants but also to native-born women. Gender-based discrimination intersects with discrimination based on other forms of “otherness” – such as non-national status, race, ethnicity, religion, economic status – placing women migrants in situations of double, triple or even fourfold discrimination, disadvantage or vulnerability to exploitation and abuse. To enhance the knowledge base and to develop practical tools for protecting and promoting the rights of female migrant workers, a series of case studies were commissioned.

    !Il Salario: il quartiere più piccolo di Roma! Walk leader: Arch. Giusi Ciotoli con Arch. Marco Falsetti! ! La partenza da Porta Pia, vero e proprio fulcro tematico del quartiere, è stata l’occasione per tratteggiarne brevemente la storia e le vicende, a partire dal celeberrimo episodio della “breccia”, che lo caratterizza e lo delimita. Il monumento commemorativo alla breccia vero e proprio, sito a breve distanza dalla Porta, appare oggi in realtà piuttosto trascurato dal Comune. Nonostante il quartiere sia complessivamente in buone condizioni, la passeggiata è stata anche l’occasione per sensibilizzare i partecipanti nei confronti delle criticità del Salario, in modo da ricordare che il decoro urbano passa anche dall’attenzione dei cittadini nei confronti del patrimonio. ! La passeggiata ha poi seguito il perimetro del quartiere, con alcune “incursioni” nel limitrofo Trieste. L’itinerario, la cui durata temporale era stata “testata” dagli organizzatori alcuni giorni prima, si è rivelato fedele alle premesse, attestandosi su un paio d’ore circa. Una pausa lunga (e piacevole) è stata effettuata sulla terrazza del Macro, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma, ed ha consentito ai partecipanti – oltre a fruire delle sdraio – di godere della vista dell’unica piazza in quota del Salario, dalla quale tra l’altro si possono ammirare due opere di street art contemporanea: “Voi valete più di molti passeri”, di Ozmo e il “Volto anonimo” di Sten&Lex che hanno sostanziato l’idea della Jane’s Walk come racconto unico di arte pubblica.! Il percorso è stato ideato in maniera da consentire in ogni momento la sosta e la possibilità di fermarsi, per contemplare alcuni aspetti “lenti” della vita urbana del quartiere.! In armonia con i principi della Jane’s Walk, la passeggiata è stata anche l’occasione per tessere nuove relazioni con gli abitanti, le associazioni e gli esercenti del Salario, che hanno dimostrato a più riprese un forte interesse e spirito di comunità.

Rome is the largest municipality in Europe, with an inhabited surface area only slightly smaller than that of Greater London and almost double that of the inner Paris suburbs (the Petite Couronne). e spatial distribution of buildings within the municipality is distinctive. Unbuilt areas comprise 73 percent of the territory. ese voids are oen farmland (paradoxically, Rome is the largest rural municipality in Italy) or areas with high environmental, historic or cultural value. Fiumicino, previously part of the municipality of Rome, became an independent municipality in 1991. Its autonomy, made all the more signicant because Fiumicino hosts the international airport, marked the start of an extensive process of economic deconcentration along the route connecting Rome to the airport. In Italy’s case, the implementation of the UrbanSIM model posed several challenges, notably the availability, homogeneity and completeness of data. is paper uses four specic cases (land use, travel times, accessibility, and residential land values) to propose a general methodology to solve problems related to missing or non-homogeneous data. For the land use, we simply combine two different land use data sources, while for accessibility and travel time data, we propose the use of geostatistical methods in order to estimate missing and unavailable data, calculating also the accuracy of the predictions.

    1 ITALIAN ANARCHISTS IN LONDON (1870-1914) Submitted for the Degree of PhD Pietro Dipaola Department of Politics Goldsmiths College University of London April 2004 2 Abstract This thesis is a study of the colony of Italian anarchists who found refuge in London in the years between the Paris Commune and the outbreak of the First World War. The first chapter is an introduction to the sources and to the main problems analysed. The second chapter reconstructs the settlement of the Italian anarchists in London and their relationship with the colony of Italian emigrants. Chapter three deals with the activities that the Italian anarchists organised in London, such as demonstrations, conferences, and meetings. It likewise examines the ideological differences that characterised the two main groups in which the anarchists were divided: organisationalists and anti-organisationalists. Italian authorities were extremely concerned about the danger represented by the anarchists. The fourth chapter of the thesis provides a detailed investigation of the surveillance of the anarchists that the Italian embassy and the Italian Minster of Interior organised in London by using spies and informers. At the same time, it describes the contradictory attitude held by British police forces toward political refugees. The following two chapters are dedicated to the analysis of the main instruments of propaganda used by the Italian anarchists: chapter five reviews the newspapers they published in those years, and chapter six reconstructs social and political activities that were organised in their clubs. Chapter seven examines the impact that the outbreak of First World Word had on the anarchist movement, particularly in dividing it between interventionists and anti- interventionists; a split that destroyed the network of international solidarity that had been hitherto the core of the experience of political exile.

Describe any differences when it comes to examinations and pedagogics. How did you experience studying in another language than Swedish? Is there anything a future exchange student should consider? 1. Retail and service experience marketing - A course that included a real-life group case in collaboration with an Italian company and a final exam. Level of education slightly lower than master level in Sweden but time put in was approximately the same. 2. Digital and organizational innovation - Substitute course for IST-course mandatory for the IIM-program. 4 individual cases and a larger case performed in group. No exam. 3. Legal issues in marketing - Level of education and time put in corresponding to level at home university. Mid-term exam and final exam. 4. Machine learning and object driven marketing - Level of education and time put in corresponding to level at home university. One real-life group project creating a google ad for a company. Mid-term exam and final exam. The education system compared to at home is quite similar with lecture-based education built on either books or articles with occasional seminars, group-projects and cases. The major differences are that some courses require mandatory attendance and that most courses have a mid-term testing the knowledge of approximately half of the course. This together with a final exam and assignments together constitute the whole grade. Moreover, the possibility to reject the grade from the mid-term (and instead do a full final exam) and the final exam (and take a re-exam) is given.
