INVITATION

The Pennsylvania Hardwoods Development Council invites hardwood companies interested in exporting lumber to developing markets in Vietnam and China to a trade mission with opportunities for one-on-one business meetings scheduled in advance in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and in Guangzhou, China; site visits to furniture manufacturers in Vietnam and China; participation in the FurniTek China 2004 trade show in Shanghai, China; and optional extensions to Hanoi and/or Beijing. Hardwood companies from Ohio will also participate in portions of this mission.

SCHEDULE Sunday, February 8, 2004 Arrive on or before February 8th in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Lodging will be arranged by USDA/FAS. Cost: approximately $115/night Monday, February 9, 2004 One-on-one Business Meetings for Pennsylvania and Ohio Companies coordinated by USDA – Foreign Agriculture Service Interpreters will be provided. Cost: approximately $100/day Evening Dinner and Tour of the City by Night Tuesday, February 10, 2004 Site visits arranged by USDA/FAS Site visit to Truong Thanh Furniture Group Ground transportation provided Wednesday, February 11, 2004 Personal day to follow-up on business contacts in Ho Chi Minh City Interpreters provided at your expense if requested in advance Shopping/Site Seeing Thursday, February 12, 2004 Travel to Guangzhou, China or continue business in Vietnam on your own Friday, February 13, 2004 One-on-one Business Meetings for Pennsylvania and Ohio Companies coordinated by PA and Ohio trade representatives in Beijing and Interpreters will be provided. COSTS:

$400.00 Covers Ho Chi Minh City business meeting expenses, site visits, ground transportation, and printing costs of company profiles in Vietnamese. Each participant will also be given electronic file for business cards in Vietnamese. $100.00 Covers Guangzhou business meeting expenses, site visits, ground transportation, and printing costs of company profiles in Chinese.

$247.50/sq meter FurniTek China 2004 trade show in Shanghai. Very limited space is available for 6,9, or 12 square meter booths. Fees payable directly to show organizer. Fee includes space and pavilion, select furniture, carpet, header fascia, electricity, lights, and exhibition passes. Additional information will be sent to interested Pennsylvania companies.

OTHER COSTS:

Interpreters: Needed for two days of business meeting days and the trade show depending on your level of participation. (Approximate cost: $60-100/day). Travel: You may make your travel arrangements through any means you choose. Commonwealth Travel has offered the rate of $1809 for your comparison. This includes flights from Harrisburg-Chicago-Hong Kong-Ho Chi Minh City, to Guangzhou, to Shanghai and return to Harrisburg. If you are interested in booking your flight through this agency, please contact Jan Eddy at 717-772-3100. Shipping: No shipping costs are included. For the trade show, you may select the shipper through the show organizer. Or you may consolidate your shipment under one bill of lading through Schenker International. Ocean freight deadline to Shanghai is December 15, 2003 in New York City. Airfreight deadline to Shanghai is January 29, 2004. Lodging: Four or five star hotels in Ho Chi Minh City, Guangzhou, and Shanghai will be selected and available for reservation under a group discount. Rates should be approximately $100-$115/night with breakfast included. Meals: Cost varies according to personal interest. Allow $20-$30/day.

PARTICIPATION OPTIONS:

1. Travel only to Vietnam for business meetings and site visits in Ho Chi Minh City followed by your own itinerary throughout the region. Cost: $400.00. 2. Travel only to China for business meetings in Guangzhou and then participate in the Shanghai show as an exhibitor. Cost: $100 plus booth rental. 3. Travel to Vietnam and China for business meetings only. Cost: $500.00. 4. Travel only to China for the trade show. Cost paid directly to show organizer. There are three 6 or 9 square meter booths available as on October 29th.

Pennsylvania Hardwood Mission 2004 Vietnam and/or China

SECTION 1: TERMS & CONDITIONS

The participant agrees to:

1. The participating company must have an office and staff or manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. 2. Only Pennsylvania commodities and/or value-added products may be a part of the participating company’s exhibit. 3. No foreign produced items may be included in the participating company’s exhibit, except items from foreign countries, which have been processed or value-added in Pennsylvania. 4. Pay the participation fees via check written to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Please include a typed and completed application form and company logo (for use in printed materials) as well as description of your product or services (50 words or less). 5. Provide one or more qualified sales representative(s) during the business meetings and/or trade show that will be able to negotiate sales and quantify terms. 6. The participating company must have sufficient quantities of product available for export. 7. Be responsible for shipping product used for display at the trade show or business meetings and for all promotional materials to be used. 8. Release the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and their agents and officers from any liabilities for any losses as a result of participation in PA Hardwood Mission to Vietnam and/or China. This includes late product shipments or in-transit damage or loss and unauthorized removal of equipment or supplies at the end of the show. 9. Complete “exit survey” upon returning from the trade show and provide confidential, six-month follow-up sales information to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. 10. Submit any cancellations in writing to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture by 01/05/2004. In the event of your cancellation, the policy of the show organizer – Hong Kong Exhibition Services will determine any possible refunds for the trade show. Refunds for the business meetings will be offered with deductions for any translated services completed. 11. Understand that trade show booth spaces are on a first-come, first-served basis upon registration with Hong Kong Exhibition Services. Registration for business meetings will be open to as many participants as interested with registrations received by December 1, 2003. Registration after this date may be possible with limited services.
