The structure is a marvel of innovative design. The octagonal stone tower houses a water tank and a winding stairway. To the south of Crossville lies the picturesque Cumberland Mountain State Park overlooking Byrd Lake. Center Hill Lake is a 64-mile long reser- voir with 415 miles of largely undevel- oped shoreline and 18,200 acres of deep, pure water – the ideal habitat for many species of fish.
