BDS 1758:2006 Bangladesh Standard Textiles – Colour Fastness Ratings – Specification

1. Scope

This standard prescribes the colour fastness ratings of all types of woven and knitted textile fabrics and garments (natural or man-made and their blends), including yams, sewing threads and handloom materials to various agencies. These ratings are expected to ensure satisfactory performance of the coloured textiles during their actual use.

3. Methods of Test

3.1 The methods of test for determining colour fastness ratings to various agencies shall be as prescribed in Annex – A.

4. Classification of Textiles

4.1 The textile materials listed in Table 1 have been classified as follows: a) Innerwear Fabrics- , mulls, corslets, vests, briefs, socks, panties, stockings, negligee, chemise, slips, , gloves, brassieres, lining fabrics, etc. b) Outerwear Fabrics- Shirtings, suitings, pinafore, , drills, , , tussore, poplins, longcloth, saris, mulls, dhoties, lungies, voiles, scarf, necktie, chunri, lawn, rubia, crepe, pugree cloth, flannelettes, pyjama cloth, ( dedsuti). , sports , uniform cloth, fabrics, skirtings, and other materials. c) Rainwear aad water proof fabrics- Water repellent coated and treated fabrics and umbrella cloth. d) Swimwear Fabrics e) Towelling Fabrics- Towels, napkins, table cloth, , bathrobe, dressing gown, handkerchiefs and other such napery fabrics. f) Curtain and Fabrics g) Upholstery Fabrics and h) Bed- Fabrics- Bed sheets, sheetings, bed covers, pillow covers, crib sheets and bed durries. i) Blankets, Shawls and Lohis
