Le Mans Not Just for Dummies Le Mans (not just) for Dummies The Club Arnage Guide to the 24 hours of Le Mans 2012 *** STOP-PRESS *** IMPORTANT *** PLEASE READ *** Dear reader, The following press release was published by the A.C.O on 5th June 2012. In case you already hold tickets for the 24h of Le Mans 2012 please read: NOTE FROM THE AUTOMOBILE CLUB DE L’OUEST Tickets damaged by light and heat The Automobile Club de l’Ouest has found a quality problem on the thermal paper used for all the access tickets to the Le Mans 24-Hours test day. The tickets become black when exposed to the heat or the sun for extended periods, so they cannot be checked (visual or scan). This problem has arisen because our supplier has used defective paper. All the tickets - pedestrians, car parks camp sites and traffic are concerned. To be able to continue to use your tickets please respect the following instructions: - Do not expose your tickets to the light or heat. - Do not use the plastic pouch that enables you to show the car park, welcome area or traffic circulation pass behind your windscreen. - Only take out the ticket for checks. - Do not leave them in your vehicle. However, the print from the thermal printers is stronger so it is possible read the bar code numbers as well as the transaction numbers to find these tickets in the ticket computer programme and to reprint them if necessary. Additional personnel will be entrusted with the job of replacing the tickets by E-tickets printed on ordinary paper. Seven places for reprinting the defective tickets will be available from Monday 11th June 2012 open from 08h00 to 18h00. They will stay open all week until Sunday 17th June at 14h00. - The General Welcome (ticket office) at the Rotonde, in the Parc des Expositions, - North entrance, - South entrance, - East entrance - Annex entrance - Beauséjour entrance - The sporting module (main building in front of the pits) Outside these times, a single withdrawal point will be available at the ‘Plis en attente’ in the Rotonde in the Le Mans Parc des Expositions. The Automobile Club de l’Ouest would like to present its excuses to the spectators, partners, team members, suppliers and media representatives for this inconvenience that is outside its responsibility and caused by the use of unsuitable paper by one of its suppliers. We remain at your disposal for further information on 33 (0) 2 43 40 2012 (between 09h00 and 18h00). Press Information Meet the Heroes of Le Mans Mission 2014. Our Return. Porsche at Le Mans Meet the Heroes of Le Mans • Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1 Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans Porsche in the starting line-up for 63 years The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous endurance race in the world. The post-war story of the 24 Heures du Mans begins in the year 1949. And already in 1951 – the pro - duction of the first sports cars in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen commenced in March the previous year – a small delegation from Porsche KG tackles the high-speed circuit 200 kilometres west of Paris in the Sarthe department. Class victory right at the outset for the 356 SL Aluminium Coupé marks the beginning of one of the most illustrious legends in motor racing: Porsche and Le Mans. Race cars from Porsche have contested Le Mans every year since 1951. The reward for this incredible stamina (Porsche is the only marque to have competed for 63 years without a break) is a raft of records, including 16 overall wins and 102 class victories to 2013. The sporting competition and success at the top echelon of racing in one of the world’s most famous arenas is as much a part of Porsche as the number combination 911. After a number of class wins in the early fifties with the 550, the first time on the podium in the overall classification came in 1958 with the 718 RSK clinching third place.

  • The English Have a Deserved Reputation for Being Unusually
The English have a deserved reputation for being unusually resilient and courageous people, despite their ultra-white skin, which may be genetic or simply the virtual absence of any sunlight at all. As you Map App your way for more than two hours from Heathrow towards Norwich just north of Snetterton, you eventually pass through some very concentrated pork country - acre upon acre covered with thousands and thousands of pink English pigs out in the open and they too never tan, so it may just be a genetic thing after all. It's fairly important not to be too literal traveling north on the A11 in northeastern English countryside, as approaching Snett there are quite a few confusing highway signs. Spooner Row, for example, isn't a drug rehab center, it's a village. Not a cleaning service, but a village too is Branham Broom. Watton isn't a Jayzee hiphop line inquiring if anything's happening; like Spooner Row, it's just another nearby town. Dogs Trust Rehoming Center - of course they do. What dog wouldn't, but this ended up not being a verb, but a center for abandoned animals. Having now reached the mid-point in the British GT championship with 3 races behind us and 3 ahead (Oulton, Rockingham, Silverstone done, with Brands Hatch, Zandvoort and Donnington to go), magic Matt Bell and I are in P3 only half a point from P2 in the series. It would take 12 or 13 paragraphs to explain Race Control's data catastrophe at Silverstone's 3 Hour race where the officials proved scrambled eggs are better left so.

  • Le Mans: the Official History 1923‐29 the Official History of the World’S Greatest Motor Race by Quentin Spurring
For Immediate Release: Le Mans: The Official History 1923‐29 The official history of the world’s greatest motor race By Quentin Spurring UK price: £50.00, Jacketed Hardback ISBN: 978‐1‐910505‐08‐3 Format: 280 x 230mm, Page Extent: 336pp Illustration: Over 350 photographs Publication Date: October 2015 This book, the latest in the officially sanctioned, decade‐by‐decade series about the history of the Le Mans 24 Hours, explores the formative years of the world’s greatest motor race. Officially licensed with the ACO, the organisers of the annual Le Mans 24 Hours race, this sumptuous book is the sixth title in a decade‐by‐decade series that is building up into a multi‐volume set covering every race. This title covers the seven 24 Hours races of the 1920s, plus, as a prologue, all the events held at the Le Mans circuit during the period 1906‐23. Each running of the 24 Hours is exhaustively covered in vivid photographs, an insightful commentary providing more detailed information than has ever been published about the period, and full statistics. Complied by an acknowledged authority of this legendary race, this series of books is treasured by all enthusiasts of sports car racing. This book covers the exciting era in which Bentley came to the forefront, winning in 1924 with a sabotaged car, in 1927 with a damaged car, in 1928 with a broken car, and in 1929 with a car that set an entirely new standard for Le Mans racers. Woolf Barnato, the man whose wealth kept the company solvent, won twice, while Dudley Benjafield, ‘Tim’ Birkin, Frank Clement, Sammy Davis, John Duff and Bernard Rubin were the other ‘Bentley Boys’ who tasted success.
