A little baby sister, Atline, and Grandpa Sauder predeceased her. She leaves father, mother, 1 brother (Jacob), 4 sisters (Hannah, Lizzie, Kathrine, and Esther), Grandpa and Grandma. "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh; blessed be the name of the Lord." Funeral by Daniel Brubacher and Henry Brenneman. Text, Matt. 19: 15. She was 14 years and 20 days old. Buried in the Mennonite Cemetery West of Brutus. "Sleep on sweetly, dear Agnes With loved ones gone before; May we all prepare to meet them On yonder peaceful shore."

He was called up from the active reserves to serve again during the Korean Conflict, from September of 1950 to August of 1951, aboard a destroyer tender, the USS Bryce Canyon AD 36, serving mostly in Japan and Korean waters.He is a charter member of the American Legion, Caledonia Memorial Post 305. Jay was employed for 34 years as a UAW Journeyman Electronic Technician at the former Lear Seigler Corporation in Grand Rapids. With the exception of military service time, Jay has been a life long resident of Caledonia, serving as an Assessor, Trustee and Treasurer for the village over a period of twenty one years. Jay also served on the library board for a number of years, and was a Boy Scout and later a Scout leader with Troop 202 for a number of years. After retiring from Lear in 1986, he was still the Treasurer of the village and also took a part time driving job with National Car Rental for about five years, and afterward drove f or West Michigan Auto Auction for another year. For many years Jay has devoted much time to family genealogy. He suffered only a few days from appendicitis and did not survive the surgical operation. He yielded himself to the Lord and was received into the Church at the age of seventeen. As a Christian man and a neighbor Bro. Ramer was highly respected. There was seldom a need in the community that did not receive his hearty support. ERMA DETTWILER (nee Cressman) 1930 - 2007 Erma departed this earth, at Pinehaven Nursing home, on Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Erma was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Magdalena Cressman. In her early teens, it was her desire to become a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized into Christian Fellowship and remained faithful throughout her life. In 1953, Erma and Mahlon Dettwiler were united in marriage. Her life lives on, as she was a loving and devoted mother to Wesley (Janet) Dettwiler, Charlene Hudson, Debra (Arthur) Dettweiler and Andrea (Dennis) Freund. A dear grandmother to Benjamin and Deeanna Dettwiler, Kyle Hudson, Christopher and Brent Dettweiler and Autumn, Hannah and Carter Freund. Erma suffered many years with the crippling diseases of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Osteoporosis. She fought them valiantly. In December 2005, she moved to Pinehaven Nursing Home which became her new home. She was welcomed by all. Her responsibilities included putting things in their proper place and tiding up, which she did as long as she was able to walk. She never complained or asked about home. As a family, we sincerely thank Dr. Pope, the nurses, the staff and caregivers for the love and care they provided Erma. For this we are truly thankful and wish you God's abundant

From 1970-79 he was employed part time at Dellcrest Children's Centre and in 1977 completed a Social Service course through Seneca College. Interview, and story by Donnabelle Hoover. Meet Elsie Goetz, one of the happy residents at Greencroft... Elsie was bo rn into a "farming" family two miles east of Wakarusa. As a child she w as very interested in homemaking, particularly bread baking. Consequent ly household duties were a privilege rather than jobs to be avoided. At t he approximate age of 13 she did all of her own sewing, plus completi ng a "nine patch" quilt. She also enjoyed selling Larkin Products for t he premiums that she could earn. Good dishes with many memories attach ed to them continue to be stored in an oak china closet she earned throu gh selling. . .Elsie's job as a young lady was helping families with new b abies. She would be scheduled in advance for the approximate date when t he baby would arrive. In the fall of 1916, Elsie was scheduled to help t he Jake Goetz family of Ohio. Mrs. Jake (Jessie) Goetz was her first cous in and a busy farmer's wife. During her time there, Jake's brother, Wil l, came each Sunday to visit. The first time he arrived no one thoug ht it unusual, but the third consecutive Sunday visit, the Goetz's decid ed it was Elsie he was interested in, rather than his brother ! Elsie h ad been ignoring him all along as she thought he was engaged to another la dy. Eventually Will asked her for a date and during the three months Els ie spent in Ohio, they learned to know each other quite well and enjoyed b eing together. After returning home, Elsie and Will corresponded regular ly by mail. At Christmas, of the same year, Will came by train to meet Els ie's family. Elsie was at the depot with horse and buggy happily awaiti ng Will's arrival. January 7, 1919, they were married and began farming f or local farmers. In 1930, they purchased a farm on C.R. 40, eight miles e ast of Wakarusa. Elsie lived there until after Will's death on Octob er 7, 1970. . Elsie has three children, all of our congregation -- Virgi l, Thelma (Mrs. Walter Mishler), and Phyllis (Mrs. Stanley Kehr) ; eight g randchildren and two great grandchildren. . She has many hobbies -- grow ing varieties of plants, crocheting, embroidering, textile painting and ph otography. Elsie has many picture albums full of people and places. One al bum contains pictures of every person who has lived in Manor I since the t ime she has been living at Greencroft. The pictures are well focused, wi th interesting backgrounds. . Elsie walks a mile each day -- three tim es around the outside of Manor I or seven times around the interior depend ing on the weather. . .As you have guessed, Elise enjoys visiting and wi ll gladly stop her activities for a chat with you.
