We are recruiting two extremely motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individuals for the positions of Service Controller and Relief Service Controller at Carousel , based in .

Service Controller: The main duties for the role are to supervise the Depot run-out/run-in, ensure correct, safe, legal and efficient operation of our services from High Wycombe Bus Station to meet the needs of our passengers and deal with passenger queries face to face. On-bus revenue protection and roadside observations duties from any point on our network also form part of this vital role. You will also coach and support our drivers on a daily basis. Ultimately customer satisfaction is at the heart of what we do and this should be a focus for the role. This is a full time position for an average 40hour week.

Relief Service Controller: The purpose of this role is to cover the Service Controllers for holidays and sickness.

The successful candidates for each role must be able to work flexibly, either alone or as part of a team, be willing and able to organise, motivate and above all demonstrate a real commitment to providing the best and most efficient service possible in what can often be challenging conditions. You will have previous experience of working in a transport environment and managing/supervising colleagues.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Service Controller Hours: Basic 40 hour week on a rota basis working early, evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays with flexibility depending on the requirements of the business.

Reporting to: Assistant Depot Manager

Job Location: Generally based at High Wycombe Depot and Bus Station but expected to work at any point on the company network, including carrying out roadside service monitoring and on-bus revenue protection duties

Job Purpose

Ensure the safe, efficient, reliable and profitable operations of the Company's services.

Service Controllers are first line managers and work closely with drivers to ensure services operate to the highest possible quality standards; able to work effectively as part of a first line management team and this will require a high level of self-motivation and an ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.

This position demands first class supervisory skills, as Service Controllers will need to work closely with drivers to maximise their commitment and motivation. Responsibility for ensuring quality and standards of operational effectiveness and staff performance by guiding; advising and supporting driving staff within company guidelines.

Service Controllers will also need to demonstrate superb customer care skills when liaising with passengers either in person, by phone or email.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure that driving staff maintain the highest standards of operation at all times in terms of service reliability, punctuality, presentation and customer care in order to maximise the success of the business. Through effective employee engagement manage direct staff reports and ensure they understand and operate in accordance with the Company's Policies, regulations and codes of conduct. Ensure that all staff undertake all necessary safety related vehicle checks to the standard required by the company. Support all staff in ensuring that all legal, drivers' hours and Health & Safety legislation is adhered to at all times. Ensure adequate resources are in place on a daily basis to allow safe, efficient, reliable and profitable operations of the Company's services in order to meet our customer's needs. Ensure that appropriate checks are regularly undertaken on the company's operations to minimise employee and customer fraud.

Assisting the Assistant Depot Manager with appropriate investigations into complaints, accidents or any other incident as required. Liaising with customers, either in person, by phone or via email and resolving any issues resulting from such contact. Display a proactive and flexible approach at all times and to assist management colleagues as and when necessary. At all times be an ambassador of and bus use in general Undertake any other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature or level of responsibility which may be allocated from time to time by a relevant manager

AM Run Out (Depot Based)

Open Depot/Buildings Send out daily performance report for previous day Check allocation of Buses Monitor Driver sign-ons - on time, -correct uniform etc Monitor. Depot Run-out - depart on time, first use checks (yard based) Allocation of drivers for the day ahead to deal with sickness/absence etc Undertake formal first-use driver checks quality standards audit Monitor service compliance via RTPI system • Update Control Logs as and when necessary • Update Lost mileage as and when necessary • Ensure Peak Vehicle Requirements are met • Prepare daily paperwork for bus station based tasks • Log and store Lost Property as and when it comes in

Bus Station

• Open up bus station office - Timetables on display/ensure rack tidy etc • Ensure buses/drivers.are on stand in good time • Ensure services depart bus station on: time • Record service departures on departure sheet • Act as Banksman for departing services • Ensure drivers are not smoking in bay areas • Handle any customer contact • Ensure all is done to allow services to run within Traffic Commissioner’s Guidelines • Monitor service compliance Via RTPI system • Lock office and store timetables.

PM Run-in (Depot Based)

Monitor run-in Assist with shunting & parking as necessary Update Control Logs as and when necessary Update Lost Mileage as and when necessary Prepare parking plan • Prepare allocation for following day's run out • Prepare daily paperwork for following day i.e. duty boards and running numbers • Action any CCTV requests i.e. obtain ha•rd drive and download footage • Action any ticket machine swaps • Email Breakdown log for day.

Scan Control Log sheets onto server. Scan lost mileage sheets onto server. Log and store Lost Property as and when it comes in Monitor and log return of VCR cards, Lock and secure Depot

General

• Revenue Prótection checks at any point on network • Roadside service monitoring/reliability checks at any point on network • RTPI vehicle tracking checks • Bus phone checks • Complaint investigation i.e. identification of bus/driver etc • Sorting through Lost property and disposing out of date items (weekends) • Timetables on buses (Saturday during run-out) • Suspend drivers if/when necessary • At all times be an ambassador of Carousel Buses, , the Go- Ahead Group and bus use in general

Specific

Forward allocation of staff to cover known requirement such as holiday and long term sickness including allocation of driver rest day working applications

Undertake any other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature or level of responsibility which may be allocated from time to time by a relevant manager

Economic conditions

Remuneration will be £28,040 per annum for a 40-hour week, working on a rota basis, with flexibility depending on the requirements of the business. Free bus travel, contributory pension, 20 days holiday plus 8 public holidays per annum, lifestyle benefits, and employee assistance programme
