Display screen will illuminate. Turn On Time Base Corrector and Select VIDEO Look Inside VCR Player 2 Look inside to make sure there is not a tape in the machine. To Eject: Press the EJECT button on the VCR Player. If there is a tape inside, it will automatically eject the tape. Take it out and give it to a staff member. Launch App - 4 ‘Blackmagic Media Express’ On iMac computer, launch app ‘Blackmagic Media Express’, located at menu bar at bottom of screen. I understand that my thesis may be made electronically available to the public. ii Abstract Security experts confront new attacks on TLS/SSL every year. Ever since the compres- sion side-channel attacks CRIME and BREACH were presented during security conferences in 2012 and 2013, online users connecting to HTTP servers that run TLS version 1.2 are susceptible of being impersonated. We set up three Randomized Lempel-Ziv Models, which are built on Lempel-Ziv77, to confront this attack. Our three models change the determin- istic characteristic of the compression algorithm: each compression with the same input gives output of different lengths. We implemented SSL/TLS protocol and the Lempel- Ziv77 compression algorithm, and used them as a base for our simulations of compression side-channel attack. After performing the simulations, all three models successfully pre- vented the attack. However, we demonstrate that our randomized models can still be broken by a stronger version of compression side-channel attack that we created. But this latter attack has a greater time complexity and is easily detectable. Finally, from the results, we conclude that our models couldn't compress as well as Lempel-Ziv77, but they can be used against compression side-channel attacks. -

VHS And VCR (Edited from Wikipedia) SUMMARY A videocassette recorder, VCR, or video recorder is an electromechanical device that records analog audio and analog video from broadcast television or other source on a removable, magnetic tape videocassette, and can play back the recording. Use of a VCR to record a television program to play back at a more convenient time is commonly referred to as timeshifting. VCRs can also play back prerecorded tapes. In the 1980s and 1990s, prerecorded videotapes were widely available for purchase and rental, and blank tapes were sold to make recordings. Most domestic VCRs are equipped with a television broadcast receiver (tuner) for TV reception, and a programmable clock (timer) for unattended recording of a television channel from a start time to an end time specified by the user. These features began as simple mechanical counter-based single-event timers, but were later replaced by more flexible multiple-event digital clock timers. In later models the multiple timer events could be programmed through a menu interface displayed on the playback TV screen ("on-screen display" or OSD). This feature allowed several programs to be recorded at different times without further user intervention, and became a major selling point. The Video Home System (VHS) is a standard for consumer-level analog video recording on tape cassettes. Developed by Victor Company of Japan (JVC) in the early 1970s, it was released in Japan in late 1976 and in the United States in early 1977. From the 1950s, magnetic tape video recording became a major contributor to the television industry, via the first commercialized video tape recorders (VTRs). -

In 1967, Ralph Rinzler's film work was shown at the Amcrican Folklore Society meetings. Subsequently, films by Bess Lomax Hawes, William Ferris and Carl Fleiechhauer have demonstrated the applicability and importance of visual communication to the study of folklore. In general, however, folklorists have been reluctant to adopt this form of communication. They admire the research footage or fiaished filmic products of their colleagues, but ignore the implications of such work for future remearch into various aspects of traditional humur behavior, Videotape, a relatively new visual medium, ha^ contributed to an increaeine senee of urgency among visually-oriented social scientists. Technical improvements in recent years allow its consideration as an invaluable tool for folklore research. Portable videotape equipment was widely available by 1970, the year when standardization of this hardware became a reality. Greater numbers of people began to handle the equipment and ta rhare with one another the results of their efforts. With the increaoing availability of videotape recording system came the inevitable camparisens with film. Both are multi-media syetew utilizing two channels of trans- mission and reception of information, hopefully in an integrated manner. Yet, they are not the same. The initial distinction is the quality of realneee which video displays. Somehow, it is easier to reopond to the image captured on videotape; the content of the tape meem less removed from the present than that of film. -

(a) Except as provided in subsection (d), patients are prohibited from having personal access to, possession, or on-site storage of the following items: (1) Electronic devices with the capability to connect to a wired (for example, Ethernet, Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), Fiber Optic) and/or a wireless (for example, Bluetooth, Cellular, Wi-Fi [802.11a/b/g/n], WiMAX) communications network to send and/or receive information including, but not limited to, the following: (A) Desktop computers; laptop computers; tablets; single-board computers or motherboards such as “Raspberry Pi;” cellular or satellite phones; personal digital assistant (PDA); graphing calculators; and satellite, shortwave, CB and GPS radios. ARTICLE VIDEO COMPRESSION CODECS: A SURVIVAL GUIDE Iain E. Richardson, Vcodex Ltd., UK 1. Introduction Not another video codec! Since the frst commercially viable video codec formats appeared in the early 1990s, we have seen the emergence of a plethora of compressed digital video formats, from MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 to recent codecs such as HEVC and VP9. Each new format offers certain advantages over its predecessors. However, the increasing variety of codec formats poses many questions for anyone involved in collecting, archiving and delivering digital video content, such as: ■■ Which codec format (if any) is best? ■■ What is a suitable acquisition protocol for digital video? ■■ Is it possible to ensure that early ‘born digital’ material will still be playable in future decades? ■■ What are the advantages and disadvantages of converting (transcoding) older formats into newer standards? ■■ What is the best way to deliver video content to end-users? In this article I explain how a video compression codec works and consider some of the practi- cal concerns relating to choosing and controlling a codec. I discuss the motivations behind the continued development of new codec standards and suggest practical measures to help deal with the questions listed above. 2. Codecs and compression 2.1 What is a video codec? ‘Codec’ is a contraction of ‘encoder and decoder’. A video encoder converts ‘raw’ or uncom- pressed digital video data into a compressed form which is suitable for storage or transmission. A video decoder extracts digital video data from a compressed fle, converting it into a display- able, uncompressed form. -

Revised 7/12 THE PALEY CENTER FOR MEDIA GUIDELINES FOR EVENTS Appendix A The following guidelines have been developed for use by corporate and non-profit groups or individuals hosting events (the "Corporate Member") on the premises of The Paley Center for Media, 25 West 52 Street, New York, New York (the "Paley Center"). General Information 1. Eligibility of Corporate members. Corporate and individual Corporate Members may enter into Agreements to use the Paley Center facilities for special events at the standard usage fees only if they are Paley Center Patrons ($5,000 or higher level). For further information regarding Corporate Membership, please contact Cecile Alexis at (212) 621-6720. The Paley Center is willing to work with special event firms whose clients wish to use the Paley Center facilities provided, however, that the client is a Paley Center Patron and executes the Paley Center’s Special Events Agreement. Non-profit organizations are not required to be Paley Center Patrons and will be charged the standard usage fees. 2. Availability . Paley Center facilities are available all day and evening on Mondays and Tuesdays. Availability on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays is before noon or beginning at 6:00 p.m. The facility can also be used on Thursdays before noon or beginning at 8:00 p.m. Access to the Paley Center’s facilities for set-up purposes will be available to Corporate Members one hour prior to the start of the event. There will be a 10% surcharge on the usage rates for use of the Paley Center’s premises on Saturdays and Sundays.
