WELCOME TO YORKSHIRE, ENABLE PREVAILS IN After a pulsating opener, York prepares for the regal visit on Thursday as Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) waves goodbye to her INTERNATIONAL THRILLER native England in the G1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks. Apparently fresh after a tussle with Crystal Ocean (GB) ( {Ire}) that would have drained most other competitors, Khalid Abdullah=s unrelenting star mare has earned the unbeatable tag through her multiple efforts at this level. Chasing the Group 1 tally of Frankel (GB), which she will equal here all things being well, she will no doubt receive a fitting welcome back to the winner=s enclosure almost the like of that awarded to the operation=s pinnacle performer at this meeting in 2012. En route to a third G1 Prix de l=Arc de Triomphe, the 5-year-old has already conquered her chief opponent Magical (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the July 6 G1 Eclipse S. on her seasonal debut. There is little prospect of that form being turned around as they meet for the third time, with the other encounter coming in the Japan & Ryan Moore | Racingfotos.com GI Breeders= Cup Turf in November. VALDEMORO POUNCES LATE FOR ACOMB GLORY Valdermoro (Declaration of War), who improved off of a June 22 first-up third at Haydock with an impressive 3 1/4-length tally at Doncaster last month, continued on the upgrade with a last- gasp success in Wednesday=s G3 Tattersalls Acomb S. at York, a contest plundered by subsequent G1 Irish 2000 Guineas hero Phoenix of Spain (Ire) ( {Ire}) last year. Will Stott - Inglis Bloodstock Consultant Victoria, AA good sized, VICTORIAN correct and tough looking horse in the mould of his sire Medaglia d=Oro. You can certainly see why he was such a good FIRST-SEASON SIRES race horse. He has an unbelievably relaxed attitude. "He is completely Danehill/Danzig free, giving breeders a number of options when choosing a mare. I was speaking with Ralph Zito [Mystic Journey=s breeder] at the Spendthrift parade and he is sending his stakes winning Statue Of Liberty mare >Miss Steele=, giving a double cross of Lassie Dear and Something Royal. The line should nick well."

Grunt (NZ) Standing at Yulong for $13,750 O'Reilly (NZ) - Ruqqaya (NZ) by Van Nistelrooy (USA) VIDEO.

Jim Clarke, AI was particularly taken with Grunt. He is a scopey horse with a quality head, lovely loose action and plenty of Grunt | Bronwen Healy strength behind the saddle. He was in and out of his box all weekend and his temperament was flawless. You can see why he fetched a strong yearling price and once he settles into his by Olivia Coates stallion career he will look amazing. In addition to exceptional food, wine and socialising, the "He is quite a tall, imposing horse so I suggest sending him a Victorian stallion parade weekend allows breeders and agents to mare with strength rather than size. Anything over 16HH might have their first look at new farm recruits, especially shuttle be getting too big but he will put a lot of quality into mares that stallions. TDN AusNZ gathered feedback on the attributes of the are a bit coarse or plain." first-season sire class of 2019, including what mares might best Cont. p2 physically complement them.

Bolt d'Oro (USA) Standing at Spendthrift for $13,750 Medaglia d'Oro (USA) - Globe Trot (USA) by A. P. Indy (USA) VIDEO.

Jim Clarke - Bloodstock Agent, ABolt d=Oro has the speed and precocity that the market here respects. I thought he was a very well balanced horse with a lot of presence. His looks are backed up by a strong American pedigree and he covered a big book in his first season in Kentucky which will give him a great start. "His sire is arguably the most versatile stallion in the world that always has a headline Group 1 horse regardless of age, sex, distance or racing surface. On paper he will suit a wide variety of mares but I would be sticking to medium sized, sprinting mares Lean Mean Machine | Darren Tindale with good bone." Victorian First-Season Sires Cont. from p1 what you would expect from a son of Invincible Spirit--you can see why Irish National Stud fell in love with the horse because Will Stott, "A horse with plenty of size, length and scope. He=s he=s very much like the old boy himself. very balanced with a great head and I remember him always "An outcross stallion and he=s done well at two, so he=s perfect catching my attention in the mounting yard. You could look at for Exceed and Excel, Snitzel mares--the Danehill-line stallions in him all day. Australia that have been working so well with Vinnie. You can "I would be sending Grunt mares that require substance and see why he=s a popular stallion physically up north, and you can strength. I would imagine he will improve lighter framed mares. also see why he=s got so many bookings to him here. I think he is He has size and I would expect him to throw forward, strong a great addition for Sun Stud and also a great heir apparent for foals and weanlings. He=s got a very interesting pedigree and I the Irish National Stud." think he should cross well with a vast range of lines." Will Stott, AHe is a medium framed horse that is full of quality B Lean Mean Machine typical of the sireline. He has a real presence about him and a Standing at Aquis Farm Victoria for $17,600 lovely head. He is light on his feet and very athletic. He won at Zoustar - She's Meaner by Falvelon Group 1 level in only his third start as a 2-year-old in the VIDEO. Chantilly Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. "I would probably be Will Stott, AHe=s like his inclined to send a mare sire but taller and with some size that might lengthier. He=s got a need a bit of quality. beautiful head and is a Daughters of some of the great colour. He is seriously bigger Danehill-line athletic. I would be sending stallions come to mind. It=s short coupled, low slung, hard to go past the fast Aussie mares that Invincible Spirit/Zeditave need some size and scope. cross that Viddora, I can see him throwing Strasbourg, Illustrious Lad, foals with the quality his Houtzen and Accession are sire does." bred on."

Sheamus Mills - Siege Of Quebec Bloodstock Agent, ALean Standing at Aquis Farm for Mean Machine is built in a $9,900 Sioux Nation | Racing Post similar mould to his sire Fastnet Rock - Rose of Zoustar although I would guess he's a taller and touch scopier Cimmaron by Bite The Bullet version. I would be looking at mares towards the neater end of VIDEO. the spectrum. Not A Single Doubt, Snitzel and More Than Ready are probably sires that spring to mind as producing the sort of Sheamus Mills, AA well balanced horse with a masculine build, types that might suit him." Siege Of Quebec has plenty of quality. He's correct and walks extremely well. You can certainly see why he made $1.2 million. National Defense (GB) Pedigree is about all that you need to worry about with Standing at Sun Stud for $11,000 potential matings as physically he suits just about everything. Invincible Spirit (Ire) - Angel Falls (GB) by Kingmambo (USA) Obviously being a son of Fastnet Rock I would be working along VIDEO. the same bloodlines his father has already tasted success with."

Andrew Williams - Bloodstock Agent, AIt's great to see the Will Stott, AWow, you can see why he made $1.2 million as an horse, obviously we=ve heard so much about him being a Inglis Easter yearling. CRAWFORD HOPES STAR CANADIAN JOCKEY EURICO ROSA DA SILVA TO WALK AWAY WHILE STILL ON TOP LIGHTNING STRIKES by Bill Finley He=s 44, not that old for a jockey, and he has been the TWICE AT SARATOGA dominant rider in Canadian for several years. Based on what he is doing on the racetrack, you would think his focus would be on how many more races he can win over the next several years. But Eurico Rosa Da Silva believes there is more to life than winning races. Having grown up in a broken home in Brazil, Da Silva is very devoted to his family and wants to spend more time with his children, who are 7, 3 and 9 months old. He says the demands of being a jockey don=t allow him the family time he craves, so when Woodbine ends its 2019 meet Dec. 15, he will officially retire. The news of his retirement was first reported by the Toronto Sun. Cont. p5

TAPIT FILLY FLIES HOME TO RISING STARDOM AT DEL MAR Newcomer Mind Out (Tapit) took some time to figure things out at Del Mar Wednesday, but when she did she uncorked a serious turn rally and flew home to get up and garner the ‘TDN Rising Star’ distinction. Having last breezed five panels in 1:01 here Aug. 11 (click for XBTV video), the chestnut broke outwardly from her wide draw to sit in a far-back last early. The 8-5 favorite moved inside of a bearing-out foe heading for home before shifting out into the center of the track for the stretch run. She responded willingly when hot-handed Flavien Prat asked her in earnest in midstretch, and collared pacesetter Nu Pi Lambda (City Zip) to score by a deceptively tight 3/4 of a length. According to Trakus data, the winner covered her final quarter in :22.48. The $850,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga buy is a half-sister Mind Out | Benoit Photo to Miss Mischief (Into Mischief), Ch. P. Smithwick Memorial Hurdle S. breezing five panels out of the gate in 1:00 2/5 (8/36) Aug. 10 Trained by Hall of Famer Jonathan Sheppard, Winston C will (Click for XBTV Video). TJCIS PPs concede eight or more pounds to his opponents, seven of whom finished in his wake in his 3 1/2-length Smithwick victory. The eighth opponent, The Fields Stable's Portrade (Ire) (Fair Trade {GB}), was on the Smithwick standby list and did not draw into the full field of 12. Although no longer notable, the New York Turf Writers field contains only one U.S.-bred horse, Buttonwood Farm's All the Way Jose (Senor Swinger), trained by Sheppard and also bred by him. The east-to-west trade in hurdle horses from England and Ireland remains strong, with several notable pipelines. An emerging pipeline is retired jump jockey Noel Fehily, who

last year recommended Optimus Prime (Fr) (Deportivo {GB}) to Rosbrian's George and Mandy Mahoney and their principal trainer, Ricky Hendriks. Optimus Prime landed in May and won the New York Turf Writers in late August. Before his retirement, Fehily rode Winston C to his maiden victory at Wincanton in January. For his budding bloodstock business, he teamed up with Thomas Garner, an accomplished young steeplechase jockey who has been riding in the U.S. this year. Fehily believed Winston C would fare well in the U.S., and Garner shopped the 5-year-old to Sheppard and his team, who in turn approached Hudson River Farms' Edward Swyer, an Albany, N.Y., developer who always likes to have a Saratoga horse. In his first start off the plane, Winston C ran a creditable third in the Iroquois Steeplechase's Marcellus Frost Champion Hurdle S. for novices, beaten three-quarters of a length after being left too much ground to make up after trailing early May 11. He conceded a lot of ground to his Smithwick opponents in the early going, but he was ready to run after the last fence on Portos | Sarah K Andrew Saratoga's backstretch, went up by a length at the furlong marker, and was pulling away at the finish line. Leading trainer Jack Fisher is on the verge of his fifth million-dollar season--no other National Steeplechase Association trainer has reached that landmark--and he may well cross into seven figures before the fall equinox. The Maryland-based horseman has been doing well this year with horses from all compass points, although his three New York Turf Writers starters carry country codes. Harold A. "Sonny" Via Jr.'s Hinterland (Fr) (Poliglote {GB}) finished an even third in the Fasig Saratoga grad Mind Out (Tapit) earns ‘TDN Rising Star’ distinction at Del Mar.
