Marzo / March 2019 ______ Confederación Panamericana de Tiro con Arco Boletín Mensual / Monthly Bulletin Marzo / March 2019 ________________________________ Nuestra temporada competitiva en eventos de ranking mundial dio inicio en el mes de marzo con el tradicional Grand Prix Mexicano, esta vez en Monterrey. Agradecemos a la Federación Mexicana por haberlo organizado. Como ya hemos anunciado, México será la sede del Campeonato Panamericano y Para Panamericano en el año 2020, eventos que serán clasificatorios para los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos de Tokio. Una importante actividad de desarrollo fue el campamento de entrenamiento llevado a cabo en Santo Domingo, con resultados muy provechosos para todos los participantes. Nuestra gratitud para Pan Am Sports por el apoyo en el financiamiento de este concentrado, y al entrenador Dick TONE por su tiempo y por el aporte de sus conocimientos. El mes de abril nos trae dos eventos de gran relevancia: el Torneo Ranking Mundial en Santiago de Chile, para el cual se han inscrito 157 arqueros de 22 países del continente, y la Copa Mundial Hyundai que tendrá lugar en Medellín. A todos los participantes en estos dos torneos les deseamos mucho éxito. Our World Ranking season started in March with the traditional Mexican Grand Prix in Monterrey. We thank the Mexican Archery Federation for having put it together. As has been announced, Mexico will host the 2020 Pan American and Parapan American Championships, which will be our continental qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. 1 An important developmental event was the training camp held in Santo Domingo, with fruitful results for all the participants. Our gratitude to Pan Am Sports for their financial support and to Coach Dick TONE for contributing his time and knowledge. April will bring two major events: the World Ranking Tournament in Santiago de Chile, for which 157 archers from 22 countries have registered, and the Hyundai World Cup to take place in Medellin. We wish the best of success to all of our participants in these two events. El evento de ranking mundial, que finalizó el domingo 17 de marzo, tuvo competencias individuales, por equipos y equipos mixtos. La final por el oro de arco compuesto femenino también fue entre mexicanas. Brenda MERINO venció a su compañera Abril LÓPEZ por cuatro puntos de diferencia, 139 a 135, para alcanzar el título. La colombiana Nora VALDEZ, miembro del equipo que ganó el Campeonato Mundial hace dos años, se llevó el bronce tras vencer a Esmeralda SÁNCHEZ de México 140 a 135. Alejandro MARTIN de Chile y Julio BARILLAS de Guatemala se enfrentaron por el título de arco compuesto masculino. MARTIN resultó vencedor por un punto, 141 a 140. El local Miguel Ángel ESPINOSA se alzó con el bronce tras imponerse al cadete colombiano William Santiago GUAQUETA 138 a 137. En la competencia por equipos de recurvo femenino, México, Brasil y Chile subieron al pódium. Así como lo hicieron México, Paraguay y Chile en equipos mixtos. El equipo masculino de arco compuesto de Estados Unidos derrotó a México por el oro, y México venció a Guatemala por el metal dorado en mixtos. Colombia aseguró el bronce frente a Estados Unidos. El Grand Prix Mexicano fue también un evento de ranking mundial de Para Arquería. Deportistas de México, Estados Unidos y Singapur se llevaron los títulos individuales. En la categoría de arco recurvo abierto masculino, Ricardo RANGEL, Roberto 3 ABURTO y José BAEZ alcanzaron oro, plata y bronce respectivamente para el país anfitrión. Cathia VALDEZ venció a la colombiana María Mónica DAZA, 6 a 4, por el oro del arco recurvo abierto femenino. La brasilera Patricia LAYOLLE se llevó el bronce tras derrotar a la mexicana Karen ROCHA, seis a cero. En las competencias de arco compuesto abierto, Estados Unidos dominó en masculino con Andrew PIKE, Richard BURKETT y Keith SEKORA en primer, segundo y tercer lugar, respectivamente. Nur Syahidah ALIM de Singapur derrotó a la estadounidense Martha CHÁVEZ 142 a 128, para alzarse con el oro femenino. La mexicana María TENORIO completó el pódium con una victoria de 127 a 121 sobre su compañera de equipo Liliana MONTIEL. La categoría W1 combinada tuvo a Eugenio SANTANA FRANCO de Brasil como el gran ganador, tras imponerse 122 a 113 ante Jason TABASKY de Estados Unidos. Lisa CORYELL superó al mexicano Jaime SOLIS MACÍAS, 126 a 91, por el bronce. Archers from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Singapore and the USA competed at the Mexican Grand Prix 2019 in Monterrey, Mexico. The World and Para World ranking event, which finished with finals on Sunday, March 17, featured individual, team and mixed team competitions. In the recurve men’s event, Chile’s Ricardo SOTO and Andres AGUILAR went head-to-head for the gold medal. Soto won in five sets, 6-4. The bronze medal was disputed by Mexican archers Luis ALVAREZ and Ernesto BOARDMAN earlier in the week, with the former securing the win, 6-4. The recurve women’s podium saw a Mexican sweep on home soil as Alejandra VALENCIA, Aida ROMAN and Mariana AVITIA won gold, silver and bronze, 4 respectively. VALENCIA beat ROMAN, 7-3 in the final, while AVITIA defeated Ana Luiza SLIATCHICAS of Brazil, 7-3, to bronze. The compound women’s final also saw two Mexican athletes clash for gold. Brenda MERINO beat teammate Abril LOPEZ by four, 139 points to 135, to claim the title. Colombia’s Nora VALDEZ, member of the current Team World Champion, took bronze after beating Esmeralda SANCHEZ 140-135. Alejandro MARTIN of Chile and Julio BARILLAS of Guatemala faced each other for the compound men’s gold medal. The former won the match by one point, 141-140. Local archer Miguel Angel ESPINOSA won bronze over Colombia’s William Santiago GUAQUETA, 138-137. In the recurve women’s team event Mexico, Brazil and Chile climbed the podium; while the recurve mixed team medals went to Mexico, Paraguay and Chile. The USA beat Mexico for the compound men’s team gold, while the Mexican compound women beat Guatemala to secure first place in the compound mixed team competition. Colombia secured bronze over the USA. The Mexican Grand Prix was also a Para World Ranking Event. Archers from Mexico, the USA and Singapore took the individual para titles. It was a podium sweep for Mexico in the recurve men’s open division as Ricardo RANGEL, Roberto ABURTO and Jose BAEZ secured gold, silver and bronze on home soil. Cathia VALDES beat Colombian woman Maria Monica DAZA, 6-4, to the recurve women’s open gold. Jason´s teammate Lisa Coryell beat Mexican Jaime SOLIS MACIAS to bronze, 126-91. Paraguay y Cuba debutan en Para Arquería Internacional / Paraguay and Cuba make their International Para Archery debut Dos nuevos países: Paraguay y Cuba, hicieron su debut en torneos internacionales de Para Arquería durante el Grand Prix Mexicano. Con la participación de María Teresa GALIANO (PAR) y Ariel Alejandro HERNANDEZ (CUB) en el evento en Monterrey, se suman dos países más a la lista de federaciones nacionales de América que han asumido el reto de desarrollar estas categorías en sus países. América necesita continuar incrementando el número de países con Para arqueros para que el tiro con arco pueda regresar al programa de los Juegos Parapan Americanos en Chile en el 2023. Two new countries: Paraguay and Cuba, made their international debut in Para Archery at the Mexican Grand Prix. With the participation of Maria Teresa GALIANO (PAR) and Ariel Alejandro HERNANDEZ (CUB) in the event in Monterrey, two more countries are added to the list of national federations which have undertaken the task to develop these categories. The Americas will need to continue to increase the number of countries with Para Archery to be able to get our sport to return to the program of the Parapan American Games in Chile in 2023. 6 Andrés Anchondo: Nuevo Record de América / New Record of the Americas El mexicano Andrés ANCHONDO implantó un nuevo record de América en la categoría Recurvo Máster Masculino a 60 metros durante el Grand Prix Mexicano que tuvo lugar en Monterrey, del 12 al 17 de marzo.

En estos tres eventos nuestros deportistas lograron subir al podio. Los Juegos Panamericanos dieron inicio en Lima el día 26. Nuestro deporte comienza sus actividades el 7 de agosto y concluye el día 11 en la misma fecha en que se clausuran los Juegos. El 25 de julio representé a World Archery Americas en la Asamblea General de Pan Am Sports, encuentro en que se abordaron temas de gran importancia para el desarrollo del deporte en nuestro continente. A muchos de nuestros presidentes de federaciones los estaré viendo muy pronto en nuestra Asamblea General el día 5 de agosto, y luego durante nuestro torneo en Lima. Estoy segura de que tendremos un hermoso evento y que todos nuestros arqueros disfrutarán de la competencia y de los Juegos en general. Our archers managed to stand on the podium at the three of them. The Pan American Games were beautifully opened on July 26. Archery will be contested starting on the 7th and finishing on the 11th, just on the same day the Games will come to their end. I represented World Archery Americas at the Pan Am Sports General Assembly on July 25.

Dos campeonatos mundiales, la tercera etapa de la Copa Mundial Hyundai, el Congreso de World Archery y el Tercer Campeonato de Desarrollo del Caribe han sido algunos de los más recientes acontecimientos luego de la publicación de nuestro boletín anterior. Ahora se nos aproxima un evento de suma relevancia. Los Juegos Panamericanos comenzarán muy pronto en Lima, y el tiro con arco estará presente del 7 al 11 de agosto, con el incentivo adicional de que otorgaremos cuatro cupos para los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio. World Archery ha otorgado a América la sede de tres eventos muy importantes que tendrán lugar en los próximos años: la primera etapa de la Copa Mundial Hyundai en Guatemala 2020, y los Campeonatos Mundiales de Campo (2020) y Aire Libre (2021) en la ciudad de Yankton, en Estados Unidos. Two world championships, the third stage of the Hyundai World Cup, the World Archery Congress and the III Caribbean Development Championships have been some of the highlights since our previous bulletin. A major event is fast approaching. The Pan American Games will start very soon in Lima, with archery running from August 7 to the 11th. WAREOS ya está abierto para varios eventos que tendrán lugar en los próximos meses, incluyendo el válido para el Ranking Mundial que tendremos en Santiago de Chile, y la Copa Mundial Hyundai que se desarrollará en Medellín. Ambos torneos serán cruciales en la preparación de nuestros deportistas para el Campeonato Mundial en Holanda, y los Juegos Panamericanos en Perú. En estos momentos trabajamos en la conformación del calendario de seminarios, campamentos de entrenamiento, y otros proyectos de desarrollo que serán puestos en práctica en el 2019.
