In aid of the Radcliffe Childrens’ Leukaemia Research Fund. All works are for sale. The Radcliffe Childrens’ Leukaemia Research Fund.

Leukaemia, of which there is more than one type, is an acute blood disease which can affect all age groups but has a high incidence in children between the ages of three and five. While a complete cure is difficult to achieve, great strides have been made in its treatment, particularly in children, in recent years.

The Radcliffe Childrens’ Leukaemia Fund was set up with two main aims; Firstly to give financial support to children suffering from the disease, and to their families. And secondly and more vitally, to help fund the intensive research into the nature of leukaemia which is at present in progress.

While larger projects are funded by the National Societies, the Radcliffe Childrens’ Fund, has recently been able to help finance a Research Technician working in the Haematology Department of the John Radcliffe Flospital, and hopes to contribute towards the highly sophis ticated and expensive equipment desperately needed to speed up research into this tragic disease.

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the many artists who have so kindly submitted works to be sold in the exhibition, and to the House Governers of the John Radcliffe Hospital, the Fellows and Warden of Green College, and the Oxford University Medical School, for use of their facilities.

Dr. Monica Holmes-Siedle John Radcliffe Hospital September 1981.
