Ferden said Matter taught her things that couldn't be taught in a classroom. The Winona State University women's bas- ketball team took on two big losses last weekend at home against Minnesota State University- Moorhead and Northern State University. Moorhead beat Winona State 81-60 after shooting 72 percent in the first half, while North- ern State embarrassed the Warriors in front of their home crowd with a 69-44 win. Winona State has lost eight games in a row and is now 1-9 in the NSIC and 3-20 overall. The Warriors are in seventh place in the conference, one game ahead of winless Bemidji State. On Friday against Moorhead, Winona State was solid offensively in the first half, shooting 50 percent from the field, but the Dragons shot 72 percent and went into the half with a 14-point, 48-34, lead.
