Bosnia and Herzegovina: Eight facts on the Sochi 2014 Paralympics Known for their sitting volleyball players, Bosnia and Herzogovina will compete at their second Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi. • Bosnia and Herzegovina has yet to win its first medal at the Paralympic Winter Games. • Nijaz Memic was Bosnia and Herzogovina's first participant at the Paralympic Winter Games. He finished 39th in the men’s slalom standing and also 39th in men’s giant slalom standing at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. • Alpine Skiing was the sixth sport Bosnia and Herzegovina has participated in at the Paralympic Games after sitting volleyball, athletics, swimming, cycling and shooting. • The Balkan nation has won four medals (two gold and two silver) at the Paralympic Games, all in men's sitting volleyball between 2000 and 2012. They played Iran in the final on all four occasions. • Only Iran (five), Germany (three) and Israel (three) have won more gold medals in men's sitting volleyball than Bosnia and Herzegovina. (The Netherlands also has two gold medals). • Five athletes have won a medal in all four editions that their men's sitting volleyball team won a medal: Adnan Manko, Asim Medic, Dzevad Hamzic, Ismet Godinjak and Sabahudin Delalic. • Bosnia and Herzegovina's four medals in men's sitting volleyball are the most in a specific event for any of the NPCs that made up former Yugoslavia. • Bosnia and Herzegovina has yet to win a medal in a women's event. Sanela Radzic came close to the podium when she finished fourth in women's shot put F42/44 at London 2012.
