Vol. 2, No. 1, January 2007___________ Scope: Munis Entomology & Zoology publishes a wide variety of papers on all aspects of Entomology and Zoology from all of the world, including mainly studies on systematics, taxonomy, nomenclature, fauna, biogeography, biodiversity, ecology, morphology, behavior, conservation, pa!eobiology and other aspects are appropriate topics for papers submitted to Munis Entomology & Zoology. Submission of Manuscripts: Works published or under consideration elsewhere (including on the internet) will not be accepted. At first submission, one double spaced hard copy (text and tables) with figures (may not be original) must be sent to the Editors, Dr. Hüseyin Özdikmen for publication in MEZ. All manuscripts should be submitted as Word file or PDF file in an e-mail attachment. If electronic submission is not possible due to limitations of electronic space at the sending or receiving ends, unavailability of e-mail, etc., we will accept ―hard‖ versions, in triplicate, accompanied by an electronic version stored in a floppy disk, a CD-ROM. Review Process: When submitting manuscripts, all authors provides the name, of at least three qualified experts (they also provide their address, subject fields and e-mails). Then, the editors send to experts to review the papers. The review process should normally be completed within 45-60 days. After reviewing papers by reviwers: Rejected papers are discarded. For accepted papers, authors are asked to modify their papers according to suggestions of the reviewers and editors. Final versions of manuscripts and figures are needed in a digital format. -

Abstract. DNA barcode data reveal a distinct group of Udea specimens collected on Crete and previously misidentified as Udea fulvalis (Hübner, 1809) and U. languidalis ab. veneralis (Staudinger, 1870). Morpho- logical examination of the specimens corroborates their status as a distinct species which is described as Udea ruckdescheli sp. n. Images of the adults and the genitalia of both sexes, as well as the DNA barcode sequences are presented. A phylogenetic analysis using molecular (COI, wingless) and morphological data indicates that the new species belongs to the Udea numeralis (Hübner, 1796) species group and is sister to the Udea fimbri- atralis (Duponchel, 1833) species complex. Introduction Udea Guenée (in Duponchel), 1845 is the most species-rich genus of Spilomelinae, comprising 214 described species (Nuss et al. 2003–2016). Udea species inhabit every continent except Antarctica, but their main diversity is found in temperate regions and on oceanic islands (Munroe 1966). -

[email protected]; www.eol.my ABSTRACT A preliminary survey of the diversity and abundance of moths of the Superfamily Pyraloidea at tropical latitudes was made as part of a study of the abundance of flying insects at different levels between floor and canopy in rainforests across the world over a period of 20 years. Since the most extensive pyraloid material collected was from the island of Borneo, in 1994 this became the focus for ecological and evolutionary research. However, research of this type proved impractical because the taxonomy of the group was so undeveloped. Funding to establish a taxonomy at the species level became available in 2003. Cataloguing is taking place of all the known pyraloids of Borneo, with images of all the species, named and unnamed, which are held in museums and private collections. This is at the level of a preliminary guide rather than a taxonomic monograph, to stimulate production of the latter. The work has progressed to the publication of a major website with images and a very large amount of text for 25 per cent of the known Bornean species, with completion of an estimated 2200 species expected in late 2017. In addition, a printed guide to some of the species has been published, with two more in preparation, to print the images we have available of all the species or unnamed morphotypes at or near the species level. -
