Miss Audrey Buckle who in the 1940’s was Lady Warden at St. Alban’s Hostel, where I spent 4 amazing years under her guidance and tutelage. I remember and thank Keith van Heerden for taking me beyond the glass ceiling on an equal footing, and taught me Value Engineering and who introduced me to Dr Don Beck –(who was responsible for opening a new door in my mind) thank you Don, you are a gift to me and to South Africa. My thanks to Piet Calitz who took all the pieces that was Loraine and moulded me into a businesswoman. And then came Rica, a student, a guru, a comrade, a supervisor, a masterful teacher, and a friend. Thank you Rica, without you it would not have been done.     Ken Wilber’s Integral Vision: A Review Of Applications In Education Toward A “Wisdom Culture” -R. Michael Fisher1 ©2003 ABSTRACT For over 30 years, contemporary American integral philosopher, Ken Wilber, has challenged all of us to critically examine how biased, if not distorted, our current forms of thinking and knowledge are, and what kind of education ought to be developed in order to build, what he refers to as, a future “Wisdom Culture.” To date, no critical synthesis of Wilber’s work and its relationship to the field of Education has been attempted. This paper offers three real classroom vignettes demonstrating the application of Wilber’s integral approach, set within an opening fictional narrative. The remainder of the paper synthesizes an extensive search of Educational documents, and provides a critical review of 16 professional educators, from both schooling and adult education, who have published writing on applications and potential of Wilber’s philosophy, toward laying the groundwork for future educational engagement with the integral approach.. Prepared for Coach Kitch Christie by Dr. Don Beck Hot off the presses! An impressive new book by consultant Adam Kahane on the relationship between power and love in change processes! This is an important topic for a number of reasons. First of all, I have experienced in myself and in the language and practices of other consultants (particularly organization development) and coaches a propensity to go for the love and avoid the power issues. Kahane’s treatment of this subject is an important one and I will share more about that shortly. First, however, let’s take a bit of a side trip—a highly relevant side trip. Kahane left Shell Oil after doing a project with them in South Africa. He was contacted by someone in South Africa, a contact that resulted in his facilitation of the Mont Fleur Scenario Exercise. Scenario development processes are invaluable for integral leadership development from my point of view (leadership being an integral concept involving individuals, cultures and systems). While there seemed to be some positive benefits from Mont Fleur, it seemed to me (as I was reading Kahane) that the focus was more on shifting political postures and ideology by working with leaders around the implications of alternative approaches to the end of apartheid and the aftermath.
