The couple’s gorgeous daughter was born at 8.45am on Friday July 12, weighing 6lb 7oz. ‘You hear so many horror stories about labour but I feel lucky to be able to say I had a really lovely time,’ Lacey, 31, tells us of her water birth at Watford General Hospital. ‘Watching Lacey give birth is the best thing I’ve ever seen and it made me so proud of her,’ adds Matt, also 31. It’s been a difficult and often heart- breaking journey to get to this point of overwhelming happiness for the couple. Sadly, Lacey suffered two miscarriages before becoming pregnant with Dusty. Both miscarriages were at seven weeks – the first shortly after their wedding in Ibiza in September 2017 and the second in April 2018. What followed were tests to determine any medical issues, and a period of six months where they didn’t fall pregnant before discovering, last November, they were expecting again. WWW.OK.CO.UK 5 Reflecting on that traumatic time, property developer Matt tells OK!: ‘I think everything happens for a reason and it does make Dusty being here more special – we’re so lucky to have her in our lives. Here, Lacey and Matt open up about Dusty’s amazing and emotional birth and the couple share their elation about finally becoming a much-longed for family of three… Congratulations! You’ve dreamt of having a baby for so long, how does it feel now she’s here? Lacey: It’s like nothing we’ve ever felt – it’s the best feeling. I can’t believe that one minute Dusty was in my belly and now she’s here. I think, how did you fit in there? Time’s gone so quickly since she was born, but at the same time it feels like she’s always been here. I don’t know what we did with our time before! Matt: I’m buzzing! As much as people try and explain how it feels to become a parent, until you go through it yourself you can’t explain it – it’s amazing. Tell us about the birth… Lacey: I had the most amazing birth and I feel lucky to be able to say that. I went into labour at 2am on Friday July 12 and had her at 8.45am, so it was a short labour and it was five days before my actual due date. My contractions started coming every four minutes and within an hour they were every two minutes. I had the loveliest midwife, too. Dusty was back-to-back and she allowed me to have a water birth, whereas some women are sent for a Caesarean at that point. When did you realise she was back-to-back? When we got there. Up until then she was in the perfect position. She must have spun around on the Thursday night! How was the water birth? Lacey: My mum and Matt were both there and they were so supportive.
