acey Turner is cradling her daughter Dusty Violet Kay in her arms as we catch up following our exclusive photoshoot at the four-bedroom LHertfordshire home she shares with her husband, Matt Kay. ‘Dusty’s our little miracle – we call her Special Kay!’ beams the EastEnders actress, who plays Stacey Fowler in the BBC One soap. The couple’s gorgeous daughter was born at 8.45am on Friday July 12, weighing 6lb 7oz. ‘You hear so many horror stories about labour but I feel lucky to be able to say I had a really lovely time,’ Lacey, 31, tells us of her water birth at Watford General Hospital. ‘Watching Lacey give birth is the best thing I’ve ever seen and it made me so proud of her,’ adds Matt, also 31. It’s been a difficult and often heart- breaking journey to get to this point of overwhelming happiness for the couple. Sadly, Lacey suffered two miscarriages before becoming pregnant with Dusty. Both miscarriages were at seven weeks – the first shortly after their wedding in Ibiza in September 2017 and the second in April 2018. What followed were tests to determine any medical issues, and a period of six months where they didn’t fall pregnant before discovering, last November, they were expecting again.

Here, Lacey and Matt open up about Dusty’s amazing and emotional birth and the couple share their elation about finally becoming a much-longed for family of three…
Congratulations! You’ve dreamt of having a baby for so long, how does it feel now she’s here? Lacey: It’s like nothing we’ve ever felt – it’s the best feeling. I can’t believe that one minute Dusty was in my belly and now she’s here. I think, how did you fit in there? Time’s gone so quickly since she was born, but at the same time it feels like she’s always been here. I don’t know what we did with our time before! Matt: I’m buzzing! As much as people try and explain how it feels to become a parent, until you go through it yourself you can’t explain it – it’s amazing.
Tell us about the birth… Lacey: I had the most amazing birth and I feel lucky to be able to say that. I went into labour at 2am on Friday July 12 and had her at 8.45am, so it was a short labour and it was five days before my actual due date. My contractions started coming every four minutes and within an hour they were every two minutes. I had the loveliest midwife, too. Dusty was back-to-back and she allowed me to have a water birth, whereas some women are sent for a Caesarean at that point.
When did you realise she was back-to-back? When we got there. Up until then she was in the perfect position. She must have spun around on the Thursday night!
How was the water birth? Lacey: My mum and Matt were both there and they were so supportive. Lacey: I was quite big at the end of my pregnancy and everyone thought I was going to have a 10lb baby, but Dusty was only 6lb 7oz.
How does it feel to have a little girl? Lacey: I wouldn’t have minded either way but I always thought it was a girl. Also, it’s easier to dress her in the colours I like! Matt: I was over the moon. Someone told me that if you have a girl, you’ll always be her hero and that stuck with me. I hope I’m always hers.
Because of the trauma you went through having suffered two miscarriages, does Dusty feel extra special? Lacey: Yes, she is very special. Dusty’s our little miracle – we call her Special Kay! Matt: I think everything happens for a reason and it does make her being here more special – we’re so lucky to have her in our lives. ‘I THINK WE’RE ON A LUCKY STREAK – I GET UP BEFORE DUSTY!’
We last caught up when you were around 18 weeks pregnant – did you relax into the pregnancy? Lacey: After losing two babies, you get to a point where you think, what will be will be. I just felt so lucky to be pregnant so I did relax. I kept up my yoga, which I do each week anyway, but I didn’t do anything like hypnobirthing.
At that point you’d had 12 scans. Did you have many more? Lacey: We did have more, as I found it reassuring after losing two babies, but once I felt her kicking I didn’t panic as much and didn’t go as much. ‘It was painful but Having said that, she didn’t move that much, I enjoyed it,’ Lacey but my midwife said it was because I’m always says of giving birth on the go, so I’m always rocking her. Is Matt a natural then? Lacey: I thought, Dusty needs to get used to Lacey: Yes! I always knew he’d be a good dad the sound of the vacuum cleaner! I’m a clean but he’s brilliant! ‘He still remembered the cramped life, which for us younger siblings was more of a narrative than a truly experienced reality,’ Motsi has revealed. ‘He killed himself with a poison. And because the people of Africa are very religious and superstitious, something bad arose in our neighbourhood. With the suicide of Neo, our family was seen as one where there was a negative energy.’ The Strictly judge married her dance partner Evgenij Voznyuk in 2017, and the pair welcomed a daughter together in August 2018, but are yet to publicly announce her name. The couple met as dance partners in 2011, and now run a successful dance school in Germany. At the time Motsi was married to Timo Kulczak, who was also her dance partner. The pair wed in 2003 with just Timo’s parents as witnesses, partly so that Motsi could secure her German visa. Last week, as Motsi’s appointment as the new Strictly judge was announced, she said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled and overjoyed to be joining the BBC Strictly judging panel.’ The star, who will sit alongside Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel 24 Motsi, Oti and Phemelo appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox

We interviewed her last weekk and she seemed lovely and down to earth… Julia: I’m very proud to say thatt I think we had one of the nicest years at RADA. I’m obviously totally biased but we still have a WhatsApp group and we’re all in touch. We obviously don’t get to see each other as much, as life’s busy and work gets in the way but the friendships we made are still incredibly strong. I also cannot wait for Peaky Blinders to start. I actually went to the first screening of the first season with Sophie and met Cillian Murphy, the love of my life [laughs].
How’s married life been for you both? Ben: It’s been a dream. We knew it wouldn’t change things dramatically, as we’re so strong anyway. We had a lovely honeymoon in Scotland and then we came back and Julia fell pregnant. Julia: It’s been brilliant but non-stop. We also moved house. Our new place is about three metres from where we used to live in Manchester. We were pushing Ben’s piano across the cobbled street – it was hilarious!
Are you looking forward to having some time off work when you go on maternity leave, Julia? I’ll miss Corrie terribly as I love my job so much but I’m looking forward to motherhood. You’ve been so open about your journey through the menopause – what advice would you give to others? Go to your doctor, because you aren’t dying [laughs]! I thought I had Alzheimer’s because I was losing my memory. I wasn’t talking to anybody, my personality completely changed, I felt raging. People think that because they can’t have babies and their skin is sagging, what’s their use? But actually, women of my age are the people that are coming into their prime.
Tell us about your collaboration with Ninja Foodi… I’m a real foodie and love using the Ninja Foodi to cook healthy meals for the family. What the Ninja Foodi does is all the beautiful stuff that the pressure cooker did in the ’70s, but it’s so much safer and easier to clean. t’s hard to remember a time before their hugely successful ITVBe show The Mummy Diaries, but in 2014 Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd were best known for their roles Ion The Only Way Is Essex. Their lives were changed with the introduction of Nelly, now five, who is Billie’s daughter with Greg Shepherd. After the arrival of Billie’s first child, the famously close sisters’ bond grew even stronger, and they celebrated with an exclusive OK! shoot. ‘I think Nelly’s brought us closer,’ Sam toldld us at the h time. ShShe continued: ‘I was at Billie’s house every day – probably driving Billie and Greg mad – but I couldn’t help it! I just needed a cuddle and to hold her all the time.’ Despite Nelly still being a baby she was already showing signs of the TV star she was to become. ‘Nelly talks to us all and laughs. When I say talk, I mean the cooing she does!,’ Billie explained. Now those coos have become hilarious one-liners, and fans of The Mummy Diaries have even begged for the tot to have her own show. Nelly’s arrival had Sam – who was dating Joey Essex at the time – thinking about starting her own family. ‘I don’t want there to be too much of a gap because I want Nelly to have a best friend,’ said Sam, now 28. Luckily little Nelly didn’t have to wait too long for a cousin, with Sam giving birth to her son Paul, who she shares Above, below and with partner Paul Knightley, in right: Sisters Sam and December 2015.
