Webpage Update by Dean Brennan—TASC Publicity Officer

We have a new website! A long awaited change to the face of TASC. It comes with 2 menus covering all the services that we provide people with spinal concerns. The TASC Net Newsletter has its own page accessed through the main menu , the posts are accessed through the news and information thumbnail under the slider. You can subscribe to the newsletter or update your details in a widget on the right. There is a regional gatherings page where each region has their own page populating on the left, regions can share ex- perience and photos. The events calendar is available - click an event find tabs at the bottom you can download to your PC email software or the Google tab to update your Google Calendar. The bottom of each page you get access to SCI.me and the Care Cure Community forums and our Facebook page, below that rolls the carousel for our sponsors. There is a fair bit more to do but a step in the right direction, all the work is done by volunteers through www.itsaccessible.net.nz. We will keep you updated with any changes in the TASC blog and future newsletters. Keep warm and dry. Dean Bren- nan TASC Publicly Officer.

Farewell and Good Luck Sheila

We say farewell to the ASRU Senior OT—Sheila O’Connor. Sheila has been employed at ASRU since January 2012 and proved to be a hugely popular member of the team—both with patients and staff alike. One of the ideas she opened us up to was the possibilities and use of adapted yoga as a rehab tool. She ran classes for both pa- tients and staff. Sheila put 110 % into everything she undertook, both for her patients or yoga. She will be very much missed—We were only just starting to understand her strong Irish accent— but wish her all the best as she heads back to Ireland and lots of new opportunities that lay ahead for her

7 7 TA iQ sets the New Standard The new TA iQ power chairs are designed to improve your outdoor drive comfort and access, while providing you with superior functionality indoors.

So why is the TA iQ unique?

Indoors: The TA iQ has the lowest floor to seat height of only 38cm/15”, lower than any other power chair. This allows you to easily sit at a desk or table, and improves your visibility and floor to ceiling height in a vehicle. Every TA iQ has the standard specification lift/elevation function of 30 cm (38-68 cm), allowing you to reach higher cupboards, benches, and basins. With a very small turning radius of only 45 cm, the TA iQ MWD can spin easily in tight spaces.

Outdoors: The suspension on front and rear is very soft, providing a smoother ride when travelling over bumps and kerbs. The unique suspension design allows the TA iQ to climb over larger obstacles.

Performance: The TA iQ is one of the fastest powerchairs with a top speed of 12.5km/h which it will reach in 3 seconds. With larger batteries as standard it also has an optimum range of 40km, so you will travel further, faster. Designed and manufactured in Denmark with quality European motors, actuators and controllers. Crash safety tested and approved in Denmark in accordance with international standards ISO 10542-5 and 7176-19 (2008). Available in mid wheel drive (MWD), rear wheel drive (RWD) and front wheel drive (FWD) configurations. So if you are evaluating a new power chair you have to try the TA iQ for yourself. You can ask for a demonstration to purchase direct, or ask your therapist to arrange a MOH or ACC trial, then you decide.

Seat height: Suspension: Safer: Higher: Faster and Further: Only 38cm/15” More comfortable Crash test approved 30 cm elevation 12.5 km/h, 40km

Whoever thinks money doesn’t buy happiness can deposit it in my bank account

The Old Golfer Many years ago during my married days, I accidentally overturned my golf cart. Elizabeth, a very attractive and keen golfer, who lived in a villa on the golf course, heard the noise and called out: "Are you okay? What’s your name?” “It's John, and I'm okay, thanks," I replied as I pulled my- self out of the twisted cart. "John," she said, (her luscious firm loose breasts undu- lating beneath her white silky robe) "forget your troubles. Come to my villa, rest a while and I’ll help you get the cart up later."

“That’s mighty nice of you," I answered, "but I don't think my wife would like it."

“Oh, come on now," Elizabeth insisted.

She was so very pretty, very very sexy and very persua- sive ... I was weak. “Well okay," I finally agreed but thought to myself, "my wife won't like it."

After a couple of restorative Scotch and waters, I thanked Elizabeth. "I feel a lot better now, but I know my wife is going to be really upset. So I’d best go now."

"Don't be silly!" Elizabeth said with a smile, once more letting her robe fall open slightly. "She won't know any- thing. By the way, where is she?”

"Still under the cart, I guess."

When I was little, I didn’t care about things like what to wear, my parents dressed me. Looking back at some of the old pictures, it’s ob- vious that my parents didn't care either.
