DD: Project X 103 "Danger" Adapted By Ian Austin BLACK: 1960

Fade in on: THE FACE OF RUTH CARTER it’s a FREEZE-FRAME. There’s a terrified look in her eyes. She’s in the midst of a battle, scared and confused and everything inbetween. RUTH (vo) We all hated MODOK. We UNFREEZE, and RUTH is sent HURTLING back into a wall, SMOKE from a LASER BLAST emanating from her chest. She falls, face-down, to the concrete. We’re in a: EXT. STREET - MORNING Cars are deserted. PEDESTRIANS are running for their lives. It’s sheer pandemonium, amplified by MODOK flying through the air. MODOK has a grey, scarred and incredibly large head. His mouth is curled into an insidious smile, as if stretched by hundreds of botox injections. His eyes are dark red. He mainly consists of a LARGE HEAD, with stubby arms and legs. Said arms and legs are connected to a yellow suit (one very H.R. Geiger in design.) The suit is powered by his mind, and a jetpack. There’s a purple band at the top of his head (below hearty brown hair), from which he fires a laser-blast. It’s a warning shot, hitting just above Ruth’s head. MODOK How dare you foil my plan, you insignificant worm? He FIRES another laser-blast. RUTH leaps out of the way just in time. The laser-blast cuts a hole right through the wall. She staggers over to 2.

ERIK who wears a white jumper and black jeans. He gently moves her to the side, and turns to MODOK. ERIK (in Jewish) You will leave now, or I will kill you. MODOK fires a laser-blast. It’s about to hit Erik, when A SHARD OF METAL flies into the air. It absorbs the brunt of the laser-blast, rebounding it towards MODOK who darts to the side at the last second - - firing ANOTHER laser-blast - - which Erik isn’t quick enough to duck. It hits him in the chest, sending him crashing backwards. MODOK So she runs fast, and you move metal? That’s no match for me. DEACON steps out from around the corner. He’s wearing a trenchcoat, and looking bad-ass... smoking a cigarette like he doesn’t have a care in the world. DEACON (in Russian) I’d like to test that theory. MODOK turns to Deacon, and fires another laser-blast. DEACON stands still, and waits as it approaches him in SLOW- MOTION. He casually steps to the side, using SUPER-SPEED. DEACON (CONT'D) (in Russian) Nice shot. (then, in English) You made these people manic. But you... you’re not even human. He laughs. MODOK fumes with rage. He doesn’t break the smile, but veins protrude from his gigantic face. He fires another laser-blast at 3.

DEACON who again moves out of the way using SUPER-SPEED, and flashes MODOK a smirk. DEACON (CONT'D) And that is... The laser-blast rebounds off the piece of metal Erik was holding, and SLAMS against Deacon’s back. He falls to the floor, barely conscious. MODOK sneers at them, amused by the fight and yet intrigued by their sheer moxy. MODOK (yells) I AM A MAN! MALE (vo) Wrong. THWACK a CIRCULAR OBJECT slams into MODOK’S face, momentarily playing havoc with his senses. The circular object flies through the air, into the hands of: who happens to be six foot tall, in peak conditioning. He’s wearing a costume styled on the American flag. He sports brown gloves, and a blue mask (with a white A) in the centre.) The circular object (his ) is also flag- like. CAPTAIN AMERICA You’re target practice. MODOK looks at Captain America, sneering. Clearly knows him, their look of mutual disgust suggests a multi-faceted history. MODOK This is the last time you interfere with my plans, Captain. He presses a control and dives down at Captain America. CAPTAIN AMERICA lets him. Just as MODOK is about to strike, Captain America LEAPS into the air, onto the top of MODOK’S head. 4.

He latches on with one hand, and - - SLAMS the other down, bringing the shield with him. It STRIKES MODOK on the purple band. It shatters the purple band. MODOK begins to scream in agony, the purple band drooping to each side. As he screams - CAPTAIN AMERICA - leaps off of MODOK, landing with ease on the ground. He stands there, cool and composed, not moving a muscle as MODOK crashes to the ground behind him. He hits with a thud, barely conscious. The suit is the only thing that keeps him from life-threatening injury. Captain America remains stood. He is content. DEACON, ERIK AND RUTH watch as he does so, awe etched on their faces. They’re watching a legend at work. Captain America turns to them. CAPTAIN AMERICA (not unkind) What are you guys doing? ERIK (indignant) We’re being heroes. CAPTAIN AMERICA smiles at Erik, amused by the indignance. CAPTAIN AMERICA It’s good to see you being pro- active. But being pro-active doesn’t mean being sloppy. (then) Are you trained? No-one answers. CAPTAIN AMERICA (CONT'D) I trained for months before my first engagement in World War II. And even then I ran into problems. 5.

There’s a brief amount of pain visible in his eyes. He doesn’t look a day over twenty, but he’s clearly seen too much in his lifetime. CAPTAIN AMERICA (CONT'D) You have to be prepared. He turns away from them, and starts walking away. They let him, doubt crossing their faces. Are they truly ready for this? FADE TO: BLACK: CAPTAIN AMERICA (vo) Well, what are you waiting for? The training starts today. FADE OUT:
