C’est à 11 ans, lors d’un concert de David Bowie auquel elle assiste avec sa mère, qu’elle a la révélation : elle sera une célèbre auteure-compositrice-interprète…Rapidement, elle apprend à jouer de la guitare ainsi que du piano et entreprend une aventure qu’il l’amènera de sa Gaspésie natale à Los Angeles avant de revenir vers Montréal. Au printemps 2005, son premier single Je suis partie se positionne rapidement au Top 5 des palmarès radio québécois permettant une sortie prometteuse de son premier album Le Trashy Saloon en août de la même année. C’est avec son mentor, la légende du rock québécois Jean Leloup, qui a écrit la chanson et coproduit l’album en collaboration avec David Struton. Anik Jean co-écrit son deuxième extrait et plus grand succès radio Junkie de toi également avec Jean Leloup. Il est clair pour tous qu’Anik a tout ce qu’il faut pour ne pas demeurer dans l’ombre de son mentor ! Son talent, son style unique et son audace ont tout de suite été reconnus par les médias ainsi que par ses pairs et l’amèneront en janvier 2006 à faire la première partie des Rolling Stones à Montréal. En 2008, pour son deuxième album, Anik collabore avec Mark Plati, le producteur de David Bowie, Alain Bashung, Louise Attaque et Les Rita Mitsouko. My fears were washed away A DAY MAKES… quickly, though, as Skipper Tom Garsden welcomed us aboard and the journey across was lovely. Now it was time for some outdoor fun! And there’s no shortage …especially if you spend it of it on Brownsea. I unleashed my inner child by having a go on the swing, slide and at one of our holiday climbing frame and tried my hand (badly) at disc golf and croquet. Ogni nazione avrebbe voluto avere i propri Elvis, i propri Beatles, i propri Rolling Stones, il proprio Bob Dylan o il proprio "dio del rock" David Bowie, giusto per fare qualche nome: fare cioè propri i più grandi tra i grandi della storia del rock. O incoronarne in patria un degno corrispettivo. I paesi che non siano britannici o statunitensi perciò di loro lingua franca mondiale sono tuttavia fuori dal gioco: il rock è innanzi tutto un fatto di lingua inglese. Non basta evidentemente cantare in inglese senza essere inglesi, irlandesi o statunitensi et similia per uguagliare in popolarità internazionale gli originari o gli oriundi ed entrare di diritto nella storia internazionale del rock. A volte poi, pur appartenendo alla stessa lingua inglese, il cercarne o crearne un corrispettivo è operazione comunque inutile ai fini del fare o non fare la storia del rock, oltre che un fatto assai discutibile, così come avvenne a esempio negli States in piena Beatlemania con i Monkees, giusto per citare un gruppo nel quale cantava un certo David o Davy Jones, lo stesso che - per evitare omonimia e confusione - portò David Robert Jones, ispirandosi al soldato Jim Bowie e al suo particolare coltello, il cosiddetto Bowie knife, ad attribuirsi un nome d'arte: David Bowie. I Monkees nacquero nel 1965 su idea del produttore discografico Don Kirshner per essere la risposta rivale (anzitutto commerciale) americana ai Beatles, quindi i Beatles americani o gli anti-Beatles.
