I am often asked how navigate the planning of our month-long celebration. I have pondered this query and offer this response: I love our city and region. We have amazing neighborhoods with welcoming parks and venues. Tliere is nothing more fun that being able to cycle, walk or drive to meet friends and family where community and the arts collide. To that end, my task is to help build energy and excitement around new, unexplored art forms as well as established art institutions in our region that are worth showcasing because they are the essence of why our area is bursting with artistic abundance. I hope that you are able to explore our new unconventional Photo by Peter Walker artistic spaces. There are a few in particular that are worth noting: The vertical stage of the entire City Hall building off which BANDALOOPwill rappel and dance, the basement of Liberty Food and Wine Exchange which will house our first foray into immersive theater with At the lllusionist's Table and Rancho San Rafael Park which is home to Dragon Lights Illuminated. Artown has placed an emphasis on equity, diversity and inclusion which has diversified our audiences, our board of directors and brought a different level of ortistry to our community. The Artown experience offers an inclusive and welcoming invitation to everyone where all are celebrated for who we are as a cohesive community and allows our individuality to shine and be recognized. Let the arts resonate as we host a party ofvibrancyand artistic excellence. It is always a difficult process for the panel to select the piece of work for the poster. With so many entries to review, the panel must look at the artistic quality and expression, but also keep in mind this is a festival poster. Does the work of art reflect Artown? Stephanie's work was done in Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool. Through her creation, she wished to inspire elegance and precision, as she believes art embodies both those concepts. 11ie design also represents our community. In other words, art & the community becoming one. Workshops and Summer Camps There are many workshops during Artown. Some will require a fee/ require multiple days of attendance, have age resitricHons or require reservations. Please contact each organization for the most up-to-date information.
