Thisguidefocusesonhistoricalandcurrentpatternsofenergysupplyanddemand.Itisdivided intosixsections.FirstisanoverviewofelectricitysupplyanddemandinMontana.Thesecond sectioncoverstheelectricitytransmissionsystem,especiallyhowitworksinMontanaandthe PacificNorthwest.Thisisthecriticalissueaffectingaccesstoexistingmarketsandthepotential fornewgenerationinMontana.Athirdsectionaddressesnaturalgassupplyanddemand, importantinitsownrightandintertwinedwiththeelectricityindustry.Thefourthsection coverstheMontanacoalindustry,whichfuelsthegenerationofelectricity,isanimportant export,andwhosefutureisdependentuponchangesintheelectricindustryandworld markets.Thefifthsectionaddressespetroleum,thesectormostdirectlyaffectedby internationalevents.ThefinalsectiondiscussesrenewableenergydevelopmentinMontana andthepotentialforthatsectortogrowinthefuture.
