Farid Mat Zain, Wan Kamal Mujani and Ibrahim Abu Bakar; The Islamic Education and The ‘j-QAF’ Program in Malaysia ABSTRACT Recently the Islamic education in some Muslim countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan are said to produce the supporters of Muslim terrorists. The bad and ugly image of the Islamic education is not in line with the noble, sublime and pristine goals of Islam and its education namely to inculcate the good and beneficial values in human minds and souls. Both human minds and spirits are important to be inculcated and trained with the good and beneficial values because good and useful conducts and actions originate from good, sound, healthy minds and souls. Evil and useless conducts and actions originate from evil and useless minds and souls. Hence both Islam and its education pay attention to human minds and souls with the hope of producing good and useful Muslims. For this good reason, all Muslims rely on their Islamic education for their children. They do not believe that the Islamic education should produce bad and evil Muslims who terrorize human beings since the Muslims themselves are human beings.

The bilateral relationship is diverse, with active and cooperative relations across a broad range of sectors. These include trade and investment, education, defence, counter-terrorism, law enforcement, people smuggling, tourism and aviation. Historical Background Given the proximity ofour countries, links between Australia and Malaysia are long- standing and reach back to the th century. One ofthe most notable early indications 18 of the presence of Malaysians in Australia was in the th century when Malays 19 participated in the pearling industry off Australia’s north coast. Today their descendants form an integral part of Darwin’s multicultural society. William Light, the son of Francis Light (who acquired Penang on behalf of the British East India Company in 1786), planned the city of Adelaide in 1837. Today, Georgetown in Penang and Adelaide commemorate this early link with a formal sister city relationship. Australian troops have fought on a number ofoccasions alongside Malaysians.

  • Umno Members Should Not Feel Inferior to Pas on Islam, Says Dpm
12 MAR 2000 Abdullah-Islam UMNO MEMBERS SHOULD NOT FEEL INFERIOR TO PAS ON ISLAM, SAYS DPM MENTAKAB, March 12 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Umno members and supporters should not let PAS rhetorics make them feel inferior and guilt-ridden over fighting for the Islamic cause. For instance, he said, they should not subscribe to PAS' fallacious exhortations that a vote for the opposition party was a ticket to heaven. Addressing community leaders in the Sanggang state constituency here today, Abdullah said proof abound of Umno consistently putting Islam uppermost in realising its ideals. "In fact we have all along strive for Islam and we've proven our capabilities in uplifting the image of Islam more than any other party," he said. The Umno cause for religion, race and country should be cause for pride among party members, he said. He cautioned party members against PAS' schemes to undermine their faith in Umno especially with the impending Sanggang state by-election slated for April 1. Umno, he said, regarded the by-election as crucial as it was determined to keep the party's representation in the Pahang state legislature intact. He said the Barisan Nasional election machinery should share similar determination to maintain the coalition's hold on the state legislative assembly. Abdullah said this called for the BN election machinery to give their best to help the BN candidate retain the seat. While nomination has been fixed for March 21, the BN had already named Redzwan Harun, 49, who is chairman of Mentakab Umno division religious bureau, as its candidate.

  • Leaders Gone from Cabinet but Not from Life of Politics Zubaidah Abu Bakar February 15, 2006 New Straits Times
Leaders gone from Cabinet but not from life of politics Zubaidah Abu Bakar February 15, 2006 New Straits Times Feb 14: DATUK SERI ABDUL KADIR SHEIKH FADZIR's departure from the Cabinet does not spell an end to active politics for the outgoing Information Minister. The veteran politician expects to have his plate full explaining government policy to the people - but without ministerial responsibilities. Perhaps the most colourful minister in terms of his views and appearance, the lawyer who favours bow-ties intends to seek re-election to the Kulim-Bandar Baru parliament seat at the next general election. He also wants to go for an Umno supreme council seat, which eluded him in 2004. "I intend to be more active in politics. I have been holding positions in Umno since 1956 and it is difficult to stop being active in politics," he said. Kadir, who described his working relationship with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Razak as an "extremely happy one", said he would actively rally support for the Government. "Abdullah's administration is facing different and difficult times and everybody should be helping them. I hope to go around the country to help explain government policies and strengthen the party (Umno)." Kadir, who resigned as Information Minister yesterday, said his decision to quit the Cabinet had nothing to do with the reshuffle nor pressure after his supreme council ouster. His reasons lie closer to home and a family he had not seen as often as he wanted to. "Because of my passion and commitment to the job, I failed miserably in giving reasonable time to my family and my own personal affairs." His departure comes a full nine months after he broached the subject with Abdullah.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.0 Introduction This chapter describes the background information of ranking issues within the context of higher education. This chapter contains nine parts. Section 1.1 contains the Background of Study. Subsection 1.1.1 involves Malaysian Government Education Plans whereas subsections 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 identify New Straits Times and World Ranking with all being located under the section 1.1 main text. Section 1.2 covers the Purpose of Study. Significance of Study forms section 1.3, followed by section 1.4 with the Research Questions. In section 1.5 covers the details of the Conclusion. 1.1 Background of study 1.1.1 Malaysian Government Education Plans Education has been proven to be a priority of the Malaysian Government through the extensive development of the academic infrastructure in the last half century. As the development of higher learning took place, the government adjusted departmental responsibilities in order to accommodate the resultant changes. To illustrate, “The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) was established on 27 March, 2004” in order to consolidate better the management of universities and colleges in the country (Ministry of Higher Education, 2009). The issue of rankings is included in the affairs of higher education matters, as reflected in The National Higher Education Strategic Plan of 2007. The National Higher Education Strategic Plan identified that the past role of the Ministry of Education was to facilitate government matters with the nation’s academic infrastructure. With the division of the department into the separate bodies of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education, the responsibility of the latter now handles administrative tasks so the area of higher education within the country may have more focus for development.
