STEVE LARGENT, Republican. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, September 28, 1954. A graduate of Putnam City High School in 1972, Largent went on to earn a B.S. degree in biology from the University of Tulsa in 1976. Largent started a very successful football career at the University of Tulsa, where he twice led the nation in touchdown catches. He is best known for his record-setting performances as a wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks. His illustrious professional football career spanned 14 years. In 1988, he was elected NFL Man of the Year, along with being named to the list of the 10 Outstanding Young Men of America. Throughout his football career, Largent was also active in the local community of Tulsa, where he has maintained a residence for several years. He and his wife, Terry, have four children: Casie, Kyle, Kelly, and Kramer. For the past five years, Largent has worked as a marketing and advertising consultant. TOM COBURN, Republican. Born in Casper, Wyoming, March 14, 1948. A graduate of Muskogee High School in 1966, Coburn went on to earn a B.S. in accounting from Oklahoma State University in 1970. From 1970 to 1978, he served as the Manufacturing Manager for the Ophthalmic Division of Coburn Opticals in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He later graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1983, and was a surgery resident at St. Anthony'S Hospital in Oklahoma City during 1983 and 1984. He was later at the University of Arkansas Area Health and Education Center in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, from 1984 to 1986. Since 1986, Coburn has maintained a medical practice in Muskogee, where he specializes in family medicine and obstetrics. He is a member of the American Medical Association, and has completed medical missions to Haiti and Iraq. He and his wife, Carolyn, have three children: Callie, Katie, and Sarah. BILL K. BREWSTER, Democrat. Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, November 3, 1941. Brewster earned a B.S. degree from Southwestern State University in 1965. He is a registered pharmacist, and is in the U.S. Army Reserve. Brewster received Honorary State Farmer from the Okla. Future Farmers of America and a Distinguished Service Certificate from the American Angus Assn. He is a member of the Marietta Bank board, the hospital board, school board, and is also a member of the Marietta Lions Club. Brewster is former president of the Okla. Angus Assn. He was a member of the Okla. House of Representatives from 1983 until 1989, and in 1990, was elected to the U.S. Congress, Third District. Brewster and his wife Suzie have one daughter, Balynda Karel. Two of their children, Betsy Kecia and Bradley Kent, are deceased.
