Roma – La Nazionale Italiana Rugby si è radunata quest’oggi a Roma, presso l’NH Collection Roma Centro, nel cuore del quartiere Prati. Dopo il raduno giornaliero di Calvisano, nel giorno della Befana, quello iniziato oggi è il primo vero momento di ritrovo per l’Italrugby reduce dall’avventura iridata giapponese e l’inizio del cammino verso il Guinness Sei Nazioni 2020 per il nuovo staff tecnico coordinato da Franco Smith. Domani, dopo la presentazione ufficiale della Squadra Nazionale al Salone d’Onore del CONI alla presenza Presidente Malagò, del Ministro Spadafora e della Sindaca di Roma Raggi, per l’Italrugby inizierà il lavoro sul campo in vista del Torneo. Allenamenti a Roma sino al 26 gennaio, poi trasferimento a Verona per rifinire gli ultimi e da lì il 29 trasferimento a Cardiff per il debutto dell’1 febbraio al Principality Stadium contro il Galles campione in carica. 1 / 3 SEI NAZIONI, L’ITALIA A ROMA PER PREPARARE IL TORNEO Sunday, 19 January 2020 13:01 Tanti volti nuovi, tra i giocatori e nello staff, nel gruppo azzurro: trentasei i convocati, con il giovane mediano d’apertura della Benetton Rugby Antonio Rizzi, classe 1998, inserito ieri nella rosa di Azzurri selezionati per il ritiro: per il numero dieci originario di Trieste e cresciuto tra Mogliano, Accademia FIR e Petrarca Padova prima di approdare in Ghirada. Nello staff, oltre al medico di squadra Niccolò Gori, gli altri volti nuovi sono quelli del mental coach Cla udio Robazza, del nutrizionista Carmine Orlandi e dell’analista GPS Riccardo Di Maio. Tra i tecnici da oggi in raduno anche Albert Keuris, specialista dei calci e delle skills dei Cheetahs sudafricani – dove ha lavorato insieme a Franco Smith nelle ultime stagioni – inserito nello staff come consulente per le settimane a venire. Con il team sudafricano Keuris ha vinto due Currie Cup nel 2016 e nel 2019, con percentuali di successo per i calciatori titolari superiori all’’80% in ambo i casi mentre, nella stagione di Super Rugby 2017, sotto la sua guida i due calciatori Cheetahs designati hanno raggiunto un tasso di realizzazione compreso tra l’85% e l’89%.
