3/6/2017 Home TamilNadu Map Erode District Profile Print ERODE DISTRICT PROFILE •Erode district is bounded by Dharmapuri and Salem districts in the northeast, and north by Karnataka State. The Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts in the west and northwest. Dindigul in the south, Namakkal and Karur districts in the east. • The District lies between 10º35'00’’N to 11º58'00’’N Latitude, 76º05'00’’E to 77º57'00’’E Longitude and has an areal extent of 5714 sq.km. • There are 14 Blocks, 225 Villages and 4571 Habitations in the District. Physiography and Drainage: • Erode district is having undulating topography with general slope from north east to south west. • The north western part of the district which includes Thalavadi, Sathyamangalam Gobichettipalayam, Bhavanisagar, Bhavani, Andhiyur, Ammapet blocks is flanked by southern slopes of eastern ghats. • This district forms part of the Cauvery basin and contributes several tributaries viz Bhavani and Noyyal, that all drains into the river Cauvery. Since 1991, average Ground water level in m Below Ground Level for pre and post monsoon is as follows: 1/4 3/6/2017 Sustainability:: With a view to enhance the Sustainability of the drinking water sources, recharge structures are being implemented by TWAD Board under various State and Central Government assistances.
