LEGALLY BLONDE 3 THE SHOW SYNOPSIS: appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down, however, when her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her charm to get into Harvard too. At school, she struggles with peers, professors and Warner Huntington. With the help of Paulette and Emmett, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

Liz Gilroy - Director Liz is always happy to return to Calgary and Stage West, especially to direct such a fabulous show. Some of her past credits include: Legends Of Rock And Roll, And Then The Lights Went Out…., and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat (choreographer). She was also a performer at Stage West and some of her favourite shows included: Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, Seven Year Itch, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the show that originally brought her to Cow-Town, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. Some of Liz’s other directing credits include: Rob Ford The Musical (Factory Theatre), Boeing Boeing (Upper Canada Playhouse), Beauty And The Beast (Brockville Centre for the Arts), One Moment, Fitz Happens..,(LFT), Sexy Laundry, Not In My Backyard, and Bingo Ladies (PSFT), A Christmas Carol (Charlottetown Festival), and The Addams Family (Annex Theatre). As a performer, Liz has worked across the country from Newfoundland to Vancouver, with 2 seasons at The Stratford Festival, 3 seasons at The Charlottetown Festival, Neptune Theatre, The Citadel Theatre, Magnus Theatre, The Globe Theatre, Theatre Aquarius, The Stephenville Festival, and YPT. Liz will be directing The Book Club (PSFT), and Jesus Christ Superstar (BCA). Phil Nero - Choreographer Phil is thrilled to be back for his 6th show for Stage West. After Directing I love You You’re Perfect Now Change last fall Phil is back to Choreograph Legally Blonde. Other Stage West Credits are Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, Spamalot and Young Frankenstein. Phil is also the co-owner of Canada’s longest running professional dance studio Metro Movement in Toronto with his wife Kalie Hunter. A big thank you as always to everyone at Stage West for providing such a wonderful place to work. Enjoy the show and thank you for supporting live theatre.

KONRAD PLUTA - Musical Director Originally hailing from Nova Scotia, Konrad has been a musical director, arranger and pianist on many stages across Canada. Favourite credits include Rock of Ages, Hollywood Hits, Young Frankenstein, , Spamalot, Fiddler On The Roof (SWC), Million Dollar Quartet, (Drayton Ent.) Napoleon (TIFT), Extraordinary (Smile Theatre), A Matter of Heart (Charlottetown Festival), Moving Day (TIFT), Death The Musical, Animal Farm (Neptune Theatre) Konrad has also work shopped shows by some of Canada’s finest writers, such as Leslie Arden’s (One Step Forward) and Cathy Elliott’s (Moving Day/Fireweeds). Taking a seat in the recording studio, Konrad has arranged and produced for artists such as Ian Sherwood, Grant Tilly, J. Sean Elliott and Lee Siegel. He was the recipient of the 2017 Greg Bond Memorial Award as well as several stints as a pianist aboard Carnival and Princess Cruise Lines. THE AUTHORS Heather Hach - Book Heather received 2007 Tony and Drama Desk nominations for her work on Legally Blonde. A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, School of Journalism, She has worked at The New York Times Denver Bureau as a research assistant and Sports and Fitness Publishing in Boulder, Colorado, as a magazine editor. A member of Denver’s Comedy Sports improv comedy troupe. She has worked on the TV shows Caroline in the City and Dilbert. Won Walt Disney Screenwriting Fellowship in 1999. Film credits include: Disney’s Freaky Friday and What to Expect When You’re Expecting. She also wrote the young adult novel Freaky Monday with . Much love to friends and family, especially Jason, Harper and Drake.

Laurence O’Keefe - Music & Lyrics Laurence O’Keefe received 2007 Tony and Drama Desk nominations for his work on Legally Blonde. Larry thanks all Blonde producers and creative team. He won the Ed Kleban Award, the ASCAP Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award and a award for his music and lyrics. Off-Broadway credits: Bat Boy: The Musical (Lucille Lortel, Richard Rodgers, Outer Critics’ Circle awards), which has received 100+ productions worldwide; music for Sarah, Plain and Tall, lyrics by Nell Benjamin (touring with TheatreWorksUSA). Co-author with Nell Benjamin of Cam Jansen (Drama Desk nomination) and The Mice. Larry is a product of his education with the Harvard Krokodiloes, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the Harvard Lampoon and the Actors’ Gang, but especially the incomparable Nell Benjamin.

NeLl Benjamin - Music & Lyrics Nell co-wrote the score to Legally Blonde, the Musical with composer Laurence O’Keefe, which received Tony Award nominations, Drama Desk nominations, and the Olivier and for Best Musical. Nell’s play, The Explorers Club, won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play, the Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award, and an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant. Nell has written book and/or lyrics for Pirates! (or Gilbert and Sullivan plunder’d), Sarah, Plain and Tall, Cam Jansen (Drama Desk-nominated), I Want My Hat Back, How I Became A Pirate, The Mice, Life of the Party and Because of Winn Dixie. She is working on musical adaptations or Dave, Gotta Dance, and . Television writing includes: Unhappily Ever After, Animal Planet’s Whoa! Sunday with Mo Rocca and the new Electric Company.

Mark Allan - Elle’s Dad/Ensemble/ Understudy for Callahan, Carlos & the Judge Mark is so happy to be performing again for Stage West audiences! Most recently Mark performed here as “Franz” in Rock of Ages. Before that he was honoured to win a 2015 Calgary Critics Award for the role of “Robin” in Spamalot. Gaelan Beatty -r Warne Huntington III Gaelan is grateful to be back and working in Calgary again so soon, and with so many new people. Past productions at Stage West include Neil Diamond in Legends of Rock and Roll and Ricky Martin and Garth Brooks in Pure 90’s this past Christmas. He’s also performed in Nevermore off Broadway in New York, All Shook Up and in BC, Peter and the Starcatchers in Saskatchewan, Boeing Boeing in Ontario, and Studies in Motion all across the country. She has been working on a new game with Ubisoft, singing on Royal Canadian Air Farce, and appearing in the CBC drama Frankie Drake Mysteries. Carter Easler - E nseMBLE/Understudy for Warner, Aaron & Grand Master Chad Carter is so excited to be joining the cast of Legally Blonde! Native to Toronto, he now lives in Brooklyn, New York. He has appeared in The Lightning Thief (Natl. Tour), Sleep No More, as Claude in HAIR and Sir Robin in Spamalot. Sash Striga - Pilar/Ensemble Sash is thrilled and honored to be back in her hometown to be a part of such a pink and perky production! Sash is a recent graduate of the Randolph College for the Performing Arts, and is an alumni of both The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede and The Youth Singers of Calgary. A winner of the Triple-Threat Award, Sash has been working hard to put Calgary talent on the map in Toronto, where she now resides. Previous credits include Heidi in NINE: In Concert (Podium Concert Productions), Janet van de Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone (The Randolph College), and Dolly Parton in Century (The Young Canadians). Jeff Fafard - DRUMS For as long as he can remember, Jeff has enjoyed hitting and climbing things. He considers himself lucky to be able to make a living from both. Born and raised in Calgary and with a Bachelor’s degree in music, Jeff has been fortunate enough to play with the Calgary Philharmonic, Calgary Opera, National Ballet of Canada, National Arts Centre, Theatre Calgary, Citadel Theatre, Lunchbox Theatre and Storybook Theatre. When not playing music, Jeff can be found playing in the mountains. He is an advanced adventure medic, climbing gym instructor, IRATA rope access technician, and an avid peak bagger. Legally Blonde marks the 48th production spanning 18 seasons Jeff has played percussion for Stage West. For the most part music is a team sport, and as such, he wishes to thank the lads in the fish bowl under the guidance of Capt. K, the Stage West family (General Tse, Col. Kira, et al.), F & O, N & B. Much luv to my beautiful bride (happy honeymoon!?) Lil Buff (who’s on stage), Eva (who’s backstage) & Charley Chano Pozo (who’s sad right now because we’re all here and he got left at home).

IAN ROBERTSON - 2nd KEYS Ian Robertson is a pianist and voice coach originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He completed a B.A in Music and a Masters of Music in Performance at the University of Western Ontario. He has performed across Canada, the United States, Holland, Belgium, and in Dubai. In Calgary, Ian has music directed and performed for Stage West I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Front Row Centre Players, Cowtown Opera Company, Cappuccino Musical Theatre, Morpheus Theatre, Storybook Theatre, and Simply Theatre, and in 2015 was the recipient of the “Best Musical Director” award by Calgary-ACTS for Gilbert and Sullivan’s Ruddigore with Morpheus Theatre. He continues to perform as both a classical pianist and a music director for opera and musical theatre.

Brad Steckel - GuitarS Guitarist, producer, engineer and studio owner Brad Steckel is back and delighted to be participating in another fine StageWest production. Having provided the guitar work for most of the musicals at Stage West during the current millenium, Brad would like to commend and thank Howard, Gary and Kira for their continued support of live music and the people that make it. JEREMY COATES - BASS Bass player Jeremy Coates, a native of Calgary, Alberta, is excited to be back performing at Stage West. Currently employed in many areas of the music industry, Jeremy is one of Western Canada’s busiest bassists, with more than twenty years of performing and teaching experience. He has performed with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and been a faculty member at The Banff Centre. Jeremy has been part of large touring musicals such as and Billy Elliott as well as local performances of Next To Normal, , Anne of Green Gables and The Little Prince. He has toured throughout the United States, Canada, , Australia, and , and has performed at the Montreux jazz festival in Europe.

LEGALLY BLONDE 11 ` / THE DESIGNERS JP Thibodeau - Ste & Lighting Designer An award winning actor, designer and director JP has been both on and off the stage all over the world. He is the Artistic Director for Canada’s largest semi professional theatre for young audiences, StoryBook Theatre. Over the past 3 years he has worked with playwright and composer Joe Slabe to create world premiere musicals, including Lest We Forget, Naughty But Nice and the multi-award winning Touch Me: songs for a disconnected age, presented by Theatre Calgary. Over his career JP has directed more than 55 musicals of all sizes and has worked hard to foster and develop the growth of young musical theatre artists across the country. He has a degree in Theatre Arts and Drama in Education, was a nominee for the 2017 Rosza Award and at the 2016 Betty Mitchell Awards he was the recipient of the Greg Bond Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to musical theatre in Calgary. Recent credits (on and off stage) include: Richard III, Romeo & Juliet (The Shakespeare Co.); The Money Shot (Ground Zero); Annie Davidson, (Cowtown Opera); Rock of Ages, The 39 Steps, (Stage West); Lest We Forget, Dads In Bondage, (Lunchbox Theatre); A New Brain, The Last 5 Years, Avenue Q (StoryBook Theatre); Sweeney Todd (Calgary Opera). JP always makes time for his understanding and supportive wife Tara and sons, Evan Xander and Isaac Tanner, who make the endless hours and demands of theatre worthwhile.

LESLIE ROBISON-GREENE - Costume Designer Leslie has designed costumes for over 400 shows for theatre, dance, opera, television and film. Her work has appeared at theatres across the United States. She served as the resident Costume Designer for New West Theatre (Lethbridge) for over 15 years and has recently retired as the Costume Designer for the department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts at the University of Lethbridge. Leslie is very excited to be back at Stage West.

Norman Galenza-MacDonald Wig Design/Head of Wardrobe This is Norman J Galenza-MacDonald’s 8th production as Head of Wardrobe - a University of Lethbridge theatre graduate, Norman has joined our team previously as Wig Designer in our productions of Motown Gold, The Producers, Hollywood Hits, and Baskerville. Norman has also done numerous other productions as wig designer and is happy to be working on wigs for Legally Blonde. In 2012 he was nominated for a Sterling Award for his work as Costume Designer for With Bells On, by Darrin Hagen.

MIke Gesy Sound Designer/Head of Audio Legally Blonde is Michael’s 43rd production working with Stage West Calgary, including numerous musical revues, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Rock Of Ages, Million Dollar Quartet, Spamalot, And Then The Lights Went Out, Avenue Q, Chicago, Game Show, The Buddy Holly Story, The Producers, All Shook Up and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. This season marks her 26th anniversary with Stage West and Legally Blonde is her 143rd main-stage production as well as numerous Stage West for Kids shows, concerts, tours and special functions. She is excited to work on this show with the “Dream Team” of Liz Gilroy, Phil Nero and Konrad Pluta at the helm. SEAN D. ELLIS Technical Director/PROPS MASTER Sean has been part of Stage West in one capacity or another for almost 20 years now. As Technical Director, aka Wizard and Fixer of Broken Things, for the last 9 years, he has made everything move or not move and built or rebuilt everything from Pianos to elevators and filled in as every job backstage except performer. Laurel Oneil - StAGE Manager Laurel is excited to be back at Stage West for her 62nd show.
