Committed to fostering the Palace’s success, the Board of Directors is currently working on a new three-year Strategic Business Plan, which will chart out the artistic, organizational, and financial goals for the theater. Focusing on expanded arts and educational programming, marketing, capital projects, and financial development, the objective of the plan is to continue expanding our current entertainment initiatives and ensure financial sustainability and growth for the Palace for years to come. Artistic success and economic stability help us provide a welcoming stage for both local and national arts groups. While we consistently seek out top-tier productions and popular artists, we also look to foster the next generation of talent, through our partnership with the Waterbury Arts Magnet Schools and our own educational programs. As the arts grow, so do the surrounding communities. The Palace Theater is proud to serve the geographical communities of not only Greater Waterbury, but also much of New Haven, Litchfield and Fairfield Counties. In addition, we serve the statewide artistic community, with our dedication to providing the highest quality entertainment on our Main Stage and in our Poli Club. Thank you for supporting the Palace, attending productions, and providing financial support as well. Without you, our mission of serving as a performing arts center and community gathering place could not be achieved. We are delighted to present two energetic and colorful shows to warm up the winter months. Like Elle Woods, Legally Blonde brings a dose of California sunshine to our stage, while the Tap Dogs are sure to get our toes tapping with their exhilarating stunts and music! One of Elle Woods’ challenges is to stay true to herself, while continuing to learn and grow. This is something that we at the Palace Theater take to heart: increasing our programmatic offerings, while staying true to our mission of bringing high quality entertainment, community engagement and educational outreach to the Greater Waterbury area. The Palace Theater is in the midst of a great year of growth. We expanded our Broadway Series to six shows this season, and we are currently finalizing our exciting 2019-2020 season (stay tuned for an announcement!). This spring, we are proud to present a new Latin Jazz concert series in the Poli Club, as well as continuing our debut Second Act speaker series. Behind the scenes, we are creating new partnerships with other arts and cultural organizations, in order to bring you the best entertainment available. To support this programming, we are challenging ourselves to increase our Annual Fund goal from $100,00 to $130,000 this fiscal year. We encourage each of you to donate to the Palace Theater Annual Fund to Help Us Grow. All new donors, and current or past donors who increase their pledge, will be eligible for a drawing for $500 of plants and flowers generously donated by Michael’s Greenhouses of Cheshire!     Ben Ferber The Hothouse and Dynamic Equilibrium in the Works of Harold Pinter I have no doubt that history will recognize Harold Pinter as one of the most influential dramatists of all time, a perennial inspiration for the way we look at modern theater. If other playwrights use characters and plots to put life under a microscope for audiences, Pinter hands them a kaleidoscope and says, “Have at it.” He crafts multifaceted plays that speak to the depth of his reality and teases and threatens his audience with dangerous truths. In No Man’s Land, Pinter has Hirst attack Spooner, who may or may not be his old friend: “This is outrageous! Who are you? What are you doing in my house?”1 Hirst then launches into a monologue beginning: “I might even show you my photograph album. You might even see a face in it which might remind you of your own, of what you once were.”2 Pinter never fully resolves Spooner’s identity, but the mens’ actions towards each other are perfectly clear: with exacting language and wit, Pinter has constructed a magnificent struggle between the two for power and identity. In 1958, early in his career, Pinter wrote The Hothouse, an incredibly funny play based on a traumatic personal experience as a lab rat at London’s Maudsley Hospital, proudly founded as a modern psychiatric institution, rather than an asylum. The story of The Hothouse, set in a mental hospital of some sort, is centered around the death of one patient, “6457,” and the unexplained pregnancy of another, “6459.” Details around both incidents are very murky, but varying amounts of culpability for both seem to fall on the institution’s leader, Roote, and his second-in- command, Gibbs.

It's a really great document of Australian rock history at a really interesting turning point. So to get it down to this... It's begging for a second edition, by the way. WHO AM I REALLY?: QUESTIONING THE PATRIARCHAL “GIRL WORLD” TO FIND IDENTITY IN MEAN GIRLS, HEATHERS THE MUSICAL, AND CARRIE: THE MUSICAL MEGAN RENNER 105 Pages Both musicals and stories about teenage girls are genres that tend to be overlooked by scholars, and to not receive serious analysis. Some scholars may dismiss these genres as being shallow and unworthy of scrutiny through a critical lens. However, much may be learned about patriarchal influence on teenage girls in musicals such as Mean Girls, Heathers the Musical and Carrie: The Musical. This thesis analyzes the patriarchal influence on the teen girl characters in these three musicals, using Girl Studies and feminist theory. Last night’s event saw Teeny Tiny Stevies win their first-ever ARIA Award. “We’ve been working musicians for so long now, this nod from the industry is definitely a proud moment. If I’m lucky I’ll get a few high fives from other parents at school drop off today,” said Byll Stephen, half of the sister duo. The night marked the fifth ARIA win for Tawadros and Tognetti. “It’s been a hard year for musicians everywhere - like me, most have had no live shows and it’s devastating. This recognition of my music is extra special, especially as it’s a live concert recording with a lively audience. I want to thank everyone who was involved in making it happen. It’s some much-needed light in a very challenging year,” said Joseph.
