P. 2 P. 3 Introducing Alderley Park Alderley Park represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the UK life science sector.

Until March 2014, Alderley Park was the global R&D HQ for AstraZeneca, with a long and distinguished track record for drug discovery and development. As AstraZeneca prepare to relocate most of their operations, they leave two remarkable legacies and a huge opportunity. The first is an exceptional talent pool of science professionals who have elected to remain in our region, and who want to continue their work at Alderley Park. The second is an extraordinarily well-invested campus of beautiful buildings, superbly equipped for full spectrum bioscience, located in a tranquil lakeside setting.

Alderley Park is a major asset within the UK’s life science industry, with an international reputation. As owners of the site, Manchester Science Partnerships’ (MSP) intention is to maintain and strengthen this position, working with health science partners across the North of England and beyond, and most importantly with the business community. Our goal is to create within this remarkable site, a collaborative community of bioscience innovators and businesses at every stage of growth, with access to superb specialist equipment and a full range of support services in an open innovation campus environment.

As part of the Bruntwood Group, it is our way to be outward facing and to play a full part in the wider life of the communities we serve. At Alderley Park we will fulfil our vision by working with our commercial, academic and clinical partners, and with national policy makers to ensure that the work which is done here is of global quality and impact.

Alderley Park is uniquely placed to drive the future growth of this critically important sector for the economy and society. We are confident that with our partners we will realise that opportunity in full.

Alderley Park is set in one of the most desirable areas in the North of England. Chinatown, Manchester Not only is the Cheshire countryside an area of outstanding natural beauty, it also boasts some of the best schools, housing, shopping and leisure facilities in the region. This high quality of life is reflected in the large number of well-qualified people opting to settle down in the area, particularly after graduating from many of the regions top-flight universities.

Alderley Park is just 12 miles south of Manchester city centre, the UK’s largest urban conurbation after London in both population and economic terms. With its rich cultural milieu of theatres, concert venues, art galleries and vast array of shops, Manchester Picadilly Gardens restaurants, cafes and bars Manchester consistently tops national and international city surveys. Accolades include the Number one City in the UK (Trinity Mirror Survey 2013) and Best City in the UK to Live for three consecutive years (Economist Intelligence Global Liveability Study) ahead of New York, Rome, Milan and Singapore.
