All three are distinguished from their congeners in new or modified keys and illustrated with color photographs of the respective dorsal habitus and male genitalia. Key words: Coleoptera, Buprestidae, Coraebosoma, Lumawigia, Philippscelus, new species, Philippines, Leyte, keys Introduction This paper, our first collaborative work on the Philippine Coraebini Bedel, 1921 (Coleoptera: Buprestidae: Agrilinae), represents the eighth contribution to the modern understanding of that regional fauna (Bellamy 1990a, 1990b, 1991a, 1991b, 1998, 2005; Ohmomo 2002). New taxa from the genera Coraebosoma Obenberger, 1923, Lumawigia Bellamy, 2005 and Philippscelus Bellamy, 2005 are available for description now, while other new Philippine species of Coraebini are accumulating for future descriptive papers. Although listed alphabetically above, these three genera will be discussed in a systematic sequence (see Kubáň, et al., 2001) below.

  • New Records of Buprestidae (Coleoptera) from Israel with Description of a New Species
ISRAEL JOURNAL OF ENTOMOLOGY, Vol. 34, 2004, pp. 109-152 New records of Buprestidae (Coleoptera) from Israel with description of a new species MARK VOLKOVITSH Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, 199034 St. Petersburg, Russia ABSTRACT In two expeditions to Israel (in 1994 and 1996), 123 species of Buprestidae (Coleoptera), including one with two subspecies, were collected. Data col- lected, general distribution, and known larval host plants are given for each species. Fifteen Buprestidae species, and new hosts for four species, are recorded from Israel for the first time, including three new host associations for species that already had other known hosts. Xantheremia (Xantheremia) freidbergi is described as a new species. Acmaeodera (Palaeotethya) macchabaea Abeille de Perrin is resurrected from synonymy with A. rubro- maculata sensu Volkovitsh 1986, in part, and two new synonyms, A. pharsaea Obenbberger and A. houskai Obenberger, are established for this species. Acmaeoderella sefrensis Pic is a new status for Acmaeodera rufo- marginata var. sefrensis Pic, and two new synonyms are established for it: A. rufomarginata var. stramineipennis Chobaut and A. virgulata var. lucasi Théry. Acmaeodera miribella Obenberger is a new subspecies of Acmaeo- derella elegans (Harold) n. comb., and Acmaeodera eucera Obenberger is its synonym. Acmaeoderella adspersula arabica Cobos is elevated to species status. Lectotypes are designated for A. rufomarginata var. sefrensis, A. rufomarginata var. stramineipennis, and A. virgulata var. lucasi. INTRODUCTION The study of buprestid fauna of Israel has been relatively poor. Bodenheimer (1937) listed 84 species. There are only a few publications on Israeli buprestids in the 20th century that either summarize data collected (Obenberger, 1946; Niehuis, 1996) or are devoted to buprestid fauna of certain localities (Chikatunov et al., 1999; Volkovitsh et al., 2000).

  • Mini Data Sheet on Agrilus Fleischeri
EPPO, 2019 Mini data sheet on Agrilus fleischeri Agrilus fleischeri was added to the EPPO A2 List in 2019. A full datasheet will be prepared, in the meantime you can view here the data which was previously available from the EPPO Alert List (added to the EPPO Alert List in 2018 – deleted in 2019). Agrilus fleischeri (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) Why: Agrilus fleischeri (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) is an Asian wood borer of poplars (Populus spp.). In parts of China (e.g. Liaoning province), A. fleischeri has become a destructive pest causing tree mortality in poplar plantations, in particular on Populus nigra var. italica (Lombardy poplar). Considering the importance of poplar in the EPPO region, and the fact that its wood is commonly used to make pallets, the NPPO of the United Kingdom suggested the addition of A. fleischeri to the EPPO Alert List. Where: A. fleischeri originates from East Asia. EPPO region: Kazakhstan, Russia (Eastern Siberia, Far East). Asia: China (Beijing, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Tianjin), Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu), Kazakhstan, Korea (Dem. People's Republic of), Korea (Republic of), Mongolia, Russia (Eastern Siberia, Far East). On which plants: Populus species, including Populus davidiana (Korean aspen), P. laurifolia (laurel-leaf poplar), Populus nigra var. italica (Lombardy poplar) and P. sieboldi (Japanese aspen). In the literature, Salix spp. (willows) are recorded as hosts but no data on damage could be found in the literature. Records of A. fleischeri on Quercus spp. are considered erroneous. In China, the two most common poplar species used in plantations are P. davidiana (native to China) and P. nigra var.

Procrustomachia Occasional Papers of the Uncensored Scientists Group 3, 1: 1-16 Milanówek 6 IV 2018 ISSN 2543-7747 ___________________________________________________________________________ Buprestidae (Coleoptera) collected by the Természettudomány Múzeum (Budapest) expeditions in Korea between 1970 and 1991 Roman B. HOŁYŃSKI PL-05822 Milanówek, ul. Graniczna 35, skr. poczt. 65, POLAND e-mail: [email protected] Introduction The Buprestidae LEACH of East Asia are very unevenly studied: SAUNDERS, LEWIS, and especially the array of modern native entomologists (KUROSAWA, TÔYAMA, AKIYAMA, OHMOMO, HATTORI &c.) have made the degree of knowledge of Japanese fauna comparable to that of Europe or North America, informations on the jewel-beetles of Siberian Far East have been collected by many Russian and foreign students since early XIX c. and summarized by RICHTER (PИXТEP 1949, 1952) and ALEXEEV (AЛEКCEEВ 1989), relatively well known are also taxonomical or biogeographical relations in many subgroups inhabiting Indochina and Formosa, while on the other hand from China (especially northern part) and Korea hardly more than occasional scattered faunistic observations are available. As regards Korea, the distribution atlas of KIM (1978) contains data of just 14 spp. of Buprestidae LEACH, whereas the only modern comprehensive elaboration I am aware of – LEE & AHN (2012) – has remained unaccessible to me, and anyway apparently concerns but a single (albeit large) genus Agrilus CURT.; the anonymous, uncommented, unpublished and based on unknown data “cafius.wixsite” listing ca. 100 spp. as “korean-beetles│Buprestidae”, cannot be considered a reliable source of information, so the outlines of general geographical distribution of most species must have been mainly accepted from the Palaeactic catalogue (KUBÁŇ 2006, 2016) whose reliability is, unfortunately, also in many points questionable [and further undermined by deceitfully selective treatment of published data – see below under Remarks to Ovalisia nobilissima bellula (LEW.)].

Bellamy listed 124 valid species of Endelus in his World Catalogue of Jewel Beetles (Bellamy 2008); recently 10 more species have been described by the author of this study (Kalashian 2011, 2013, 2017, 2019). The genus is distributed in the Eastern Palearctic, Oriental and Australian regions, and is recorded from Nepal, Sikkim, continental China and Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia, Sunda and Philippine Islands, through New Guinea and Australia to Fiji. As far as it is known, the species of Endelus are associated with ferns (e.g.

Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 85: 113–184. – Selected species of 19 buprestid genera were studied in holomorphological fashion. The genera represent all the subfamilies described within the Buprestidae LEACH: Schizopodinae LECONTE (Schizopus LECONTE), Julodinae LACORDAIRE (Julodis SOLIER), Thrincopyginae LECONTE (Thrincopyge LECONTE), Acmaeoderinae KERREMANS (Acmaeoderella COBOS), Polycestinae LACORDAIRE (Ptosima SOLIER, Polycesta SOLIER, Sponsor LAPORTE & GORY, Paratrachys SAUNDERS), Buprestinae LEACH (Buprestis LINNAEUS, Melanophila ESCHSCHOLTZ), Chrysobothrinae LAPORTE & GORY (Chrysobothris ESCHSCHOLTZ), Chalcophorinae LACORDAIRE (Chalcophora SOLIER), Sphenopterinae LACORDAIRE (Sphenoptera SOLIER), Mastogeniinae LECONTE & HORN (Mastogenius SOLIER), Galbellinae REITTER (Galbella WESTWOOD), Agrilinae LAPORTE & GORY (Coraebus LAPORTE & GORY, Agrilus CURTIS), Trachyinae GORY & LAPORTE (Trachys FABRICIUS) a Cylindromorphinae PORTEVIN (Cylindromorphus THÉRY). Some of the body parts studied were figured. Eighty seven characters of larvae and adults were used in a character state matrix. The matrix was mostly based on the material studied, although, literature data were also used (especially for larval and anatomical characters). The families Derodontidae, Bostrichidae, Dermestidae, Dascillidae, Byrrhidae, Elateridae, and Dryopidae were used as outgroups. The Hennig86 program (commands mhennig*bb*, successive weighting) was used for computing the matrix. Only one tree is a result of the matrix and that shows high congruence of matrix data. The resulting tree is congruent with a general opinion on a higher taxonomy for Buprestoidea. Family rank is confirmed for Schizopodidae.
