Thursday is the final game of a short three-game road trip for the Quakes before they return to LoanMart Field to host 2018 1ST HALF STANDINGS the Lake Elsinore Storm. NORTH W L PCT GB VS STOCKTON: This is the ninth of 12 overall meetings between the two clubs and the final of six games at Banner Island Ballpark. Stockton 24 16 .600 - The Quakes last played Stockton in a three-game series at LoanMart Field 4/24-4/26 and lost two of three against the North Division San Jose 23 17 .575 1.0 opponents. Parker Curry received the win out of the bullpen in the final game of the series in the only victory for the Quakes over Visalia 22 18 .550 2.0 Stockton this season. Following a 6-3 win for the Quakes on Wednesday, Stockton leads the 2018 season series over Rancho six-games-to-two. LAST TIME OUT: Pitching in his hometown of Stockton, Dean Kremer allowed a lone run over six strong innings for the Quakes, SOUTH W L PCT GB while the offense backed him in a 6-3 victory over the Ports on Wednesday night.After Kremer departed in the sixth, a five-hit, three- Lancaster 20 20 .500 - run seventh inning proved the decider in the Quakes' first win of the season at Banner Island Ballpark.Gavin Lux tripled himself into Inland Empire 19 21 .475 1.0 Rancho Cucamonga 18 22 .450 2.0 scoring position to begin the seventh and quickly scored on a Rylan Bannon single. CAL LEAGUE SCOREBOARD Landon was called up from Rancho Cucamonga to Double-A Tulsa on April 30th where he played in one game. Shortly after, Landon was promted to Triple-A Oklahoma on 5/3 where he played in four games (2-for-8, 2 runs, RBI) before returning to the Quakes. Yesterday Against the Rawhide on 5/13, Landon hit the first walk-off home run of the season for the Quakes, a two-run homer on Mothers Day Inland Empire 6 at Lake Elsinore 3 to give the Quakes a 3-2 win over Visalia. Modesto 2 at San Jose 3 RIGHT VS LEFT: The Quakes are hitting significantly better this season against right-handed pitchers compared to left-handers. Visalia 2 at Lancaster 4 Over 1,176 at-bats against righties, the Quakes have accumulated 320 total hits, good for a .272 batting average. Rancho has seen far Rancho Cucamonga 6 at Stockton 3 less from south-paws this season totaling just 206 at-bats, scattering 51 hits for a .248 average. STARTING STRONG: Quakes starting pitchers delivered three strong outings over the weekday series in Lake Elsinore, 5/8-5/10. Zach Lake Elsinore at Rancho Cucamonga, 7:05 PM Pop has been transferred from Low-A Great Lakes to Rancho Cucamonga. Sunday, Quakes RHP Jordan Sheffield was placed on the Lancaster at Inland Empire, 7:05 DL with right-forearm tightness. Michael Boyle was been activated from the DL to the active Rancho roster. Saturday, Los Angeles San Jose at Stockton, 7:10 PM Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner was added to the Quakes roster as part of a MLB rehab assignment. MATHEWSON STARTS: Chris Mathewson (1-0) will make his first start of the season for the Quakes and second appearance the Stockton Ports on Thursday. Ultimately, the unease proved temporary, as Barnes tested negative several times over the next 48 hours, resulting in his clearance (along with eight other players who’d been isolated as a result of contact tracing) to return to the team. Yet it served as a reminder of what baseball teams may confront in the year to come — and that the Red Sox have a very different clubhouse setup to contain the spread of the virus this year. A year ago, Red Sox players had the most luxurious accommodations in the history of Fenway Park. With a need to implement social distancing and other safety protocols, the Red Sox abandoned their clubhouse and got creative, relocating players and coaches to luxury suites. The suites, which housed two players each, proved effective in keeping the players safe, healthy, and comfortable. When players reported for the summer training period in July, they were dazzled by the setup. But the suites came with a drawback. Player interactions dwindled. Familiar rituals such as conversations over meals were lost. For coaches and front office staff, the dispersal made it difficult to locate players and thus to coach and help them. By contrast, on road trips, the team was together in visiting clubhouses large enough to maintain social distancing.
