Step 3

Plug a controller, mouse, or keyboard into any available USB port on your Link.

Follow the on-screen instructions to locate computers running Steam on your home network, then choose one and start streaming games to your TV!

Can I play on my computer and Link simultaneously?

While streaming, you can control games from either the Steam Link or your host computer, but not both at once. If you want to play on your host computer while streaming to another TV, be aware that screen tearing may occur on your computer monitor because v-sync is disabled while streaming. If you plan to play local multiplayer while streaming to the Link, you’ll want all players to be plugged into the Link.

Can the Steam Link play games my computer can’t?

The role of the Steam Link is to stream content from your computer to a TV; it won’t make games run any smoother than they already do on your host computer.

Can the Link be used with non-Steam games?

The Steam Link can stream any computer game once you add it to your Steam library. Retail games and non-Steam games can be added to your Steam library from the Steam client by clicking “+ ADD A GAME”. You should launch the game from Steam, rather than using a shortcut on your desktop.
