Apart from teaching at Art Box, Sofia has recently begun participating in fairs to showcase her art. The Lowe Art Museum is free to visitors throughout the Festival of Art weekend. 6 beauxartsmiami.org 7 HandsOn! – A Children’s Celebration in Art In 1987, Beaux Arts introduced a new outreach project, “HandsOn! – A Children’s Celebration in Art.” Today the program brings underserved kids from all over Miami-Dade County to the museum for a day of fun and learning. The program enables students from Title 1 elementary schools to visit the museum free of charge and with paid transportation, learn about specific exhibits and participate in art projects. In 2013, Beaux Arts doubled the size of this program and hosted over 700 elementary school children. In 2014, Beaux reached outside of the museum setting OUR and brought this art appreciation program to children residing at the Chapman Partnership Homeless Shelter. Children’s Pavilion Built in 1953 with support from Beaux Arts, the Children’s Pavilion at the Lowe is the SToRY site of children’s art classes/camp, held primarily during school breaks in the winter, spring, and summer. It is designed to encourage children, ages 5-12, to explore their own creativity. Beaux Arts continues to expand the year-round class offerings, the proceeds of which benefit the Lowe.

Donated Works of Art In April of 1965, Beaux Arts launched the Virgil Baker American Art Collection for festival of art the Lowe Art Museum with a $5,000 contribution. The funds were used to purchase three paintings that marked the beginning of the first major collection of American Art in the Southeastern United States. Since that time, Beaux Arts has purchased How It All Started and donated over 50 pieces of art to the Lowe Art Museum adding to the Lowe’s Beaux Arts was started in 1953 by fifty founding collections. During this time period, that he spent in with frequent visits to , studying their ceramic and painting concepts, was a very fruitful period of his life. Eventually he ran his own studio and taught fine art at the high school and college levels. Teaching over a 30 year period was also an important experience in developing Mark’s personal style. The work is defined by the search for truth utilizing “Reductive” and “Profound” concepts interpreted through minimally variable colorations and subtle textures. By design, they are intended to be both intellectually stimulating and contemplative.

Sofia Lacayo Remy Born in New York, Sofia spent her early childhood in Nicaragua before moving with her family to Miami when she was six. In 1995, she graduated from Duke University with a degree in Art History. Later that year, Sofia moved to New York and joined Mary-Anne Martin/Fine Art, the pre-eminent gallery in the field of Latin American Art. festival of art rtist The Linda Pallot Award for Best in Show A Each year, the panel of judges chooses a student to receive the award for Best in Show. This prestigious award honors the student artwork that Showcase the judges feel is the most outstanding from those pieces submitted. The Linda Pallot Award is named in memory of Linda Pallot, a favorite Beaux Arts artist and friend. Linda worked with oils and a palette knife; and her paintings were Impressionistic in nature. Linda painted The Student Artist Showcase, originally established in 2002, provides beach scenes and portraits. Her art always reflected the light within her middle and high school students in grades 6th to 12th from across Miami- personality, as well as the hues of nature she captured.
