The Florida Park Service is the state’s lead agency for recreation and conservation, with the goal of carefully managing the parks in its system and preserving them for future generations. The department ensures that natural areas are protected and visitors have access to natural beauty and recreational opportunities at its 175 award-winning state parks, trails, historic sites and other public lands. In 2019, Florida Park Service was recognized by the National Recreation and Park Association, in partnership with the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration, with the fourth gold medal in its 75-year history — the most of any system in the nation. Greater Miami and the Beaches is home to three of the system’s parks, and each offers an enriching recreational experience that is completely different from the other. These parks are available for limited sports activities and event rentals.
