Programme schedule 4 A full three years before the first edition of the November Music festival! A quarter of a century has passed but the phrase still describes November Music. While disregarding boundaries and genres, it has a passion for music made Concerts Wednesday 4 November 10 by people who matter, such as Arvo Pärt and Helmut Lachenmann. These are two of modern music’s biggest names. They sound different but may have 12 more in common than many think. There is also the internationally renowned Concerts Thursday 5 November Asko|Schönberg, our ensemble in residence, which plays no fewer than four concerts. Florian Magnus Maier and Wilbert Bulsink are this year’s composers Concerts Friday 6 November 15 in focus who are fond of breaking through musical boundaries; each in their own way. Both Wende and Julia Holter put a whole new slant on (rock) songs. Accordionist Kimmo Pohjonen and the Raggaze Quartet also refuse to be Concerts Saturday 7 November 18 confined to a particular genre. Naturally, Fred Frith continues to think out of the box after all these years. At the festival, he collaborates with the Zwerm guitar Concerts Sunday 8 November 25 quartet. And this is merely a tiny sample of November Music 2015’s wonderful programme. So don’t be afraid to ‘step across the border’! Visit the festival, meet interesting people, and enjoy their music. You’re very welcome.
